Noah's Surf House in Portugal -- a perfect European getaway
For the February break I had a bit of a dilemma. I did not want to go somewhere cold, but I also did not want to go too far away. I did not want to have to cook, but I also wanted somewhere easy going and not fussy. SOOOO I did a lot of research ...

A family yoga sequence to enjoy from the comfort of your bed
My gorgeous friend Kiki lives in London with her husband and three children and is both a medical doctor and an experienced yoga teacher. 'Twist', yoga poems written by Janet S. Wong
It's been a crazy school year for Helena. Another change of school, another curriculum to follow and a whole new set of rules to become familiar with. She is a true natural when it comes to moving and although it looks like she's always super confident and easily adaptable she is a natural worrier. I ...

Pregnancy Yoga DVD by Nadia Narain
I've mentioned Nadia before (here), and in that post I wrote a little bit about how she supported me through my pregnancy with Marlow and how she transformed the way I view childbirth. I am certain it is because of her yoga classes and support that I was able to give birth in a way I ...

Pregnancy Yoga with Nadia
I had never done yoga before... until I found myself at 32 weeks pregnant with a breech baby. A good friend (and fellow pregnant mama) recommended I try yoga, both for the physical benefit as well as to calm my mind and find a sense of peace with my pregnancy and baby.  I figured I ...

Yoga Pretzels
My kids have been greatly enjoying the Yoga Pretzels cards they got from their babysitter for Christmas. It's so cute to see them bend in all sorts of curves, or trying to keep their balance. There are 50 cards, each of them giving a suggestion for a pose. There are, for instance, balance poses, stretch ...

Yoga for you and your baby
When I was pregnant with Sara I went to yoga class once a week faithfully. I danced around the room with other pregnant ladies and connected with my baby embracing my belly. After her birth I went back to a weekly baby massage/yoga class until Sara was crawling around and yoga wasn't an option any ...

c-sections, not bad after all
At the beginning of my first pregnancy I felt so overwhelmed by the novelty and changes to come that I needed to feel medical presence and guidance around me; I was so not into the natural birth movement. At around 10 weeks pregnant (with no bump in sight) I went to take a tour of ...

The best way to avoid pre-bought Halloween costumes that aren’t environmentally friendly… make your own! But finding the time is another thing. So why don’t you make superhero leaf masks this year. Go for a walk. Collect leaves. Press them this weekend, and then decorate them in a week or so. What a great way to embrace Autumn and have fun! Totally free too. Your superpower, a creative & cool solution! 🦸‍️ 🦸‍️ 🦸‍️🦸‍️🦸‍️ Link in bio from @soloskates lovely post a few years ago!

It’s World Mental Health Week this week, which is a wonderful opportunity to talk about our children’s mental health and how best to support our kids through their emotional ups and downs. In the research @courtneyadamo did on adolescence for her Tweens & Teens e-course, @intheloop.teens she learned that it is normal for mental health and self-esteem to plummet at the onset of adolescence and puberty. Adolescence is a huge developmental period where children’s brains are being reconstructed, their emotions are supercharged, their bodies are changing and they are charting a path away from their parents, leaving behind the comforts and familiarity of childhood. If you think about it, it would be strange if our tweens and teens didn’t feel confused, anxious and self-critical at some stage in this developmental period. These emotional ups and downs are completely normal. Despite knowing this, it can still be incredibly difficult to see our children sad, anxious or angry. Sometimes their big emotions can make us uncomfortable or want to retreat. So what exactly should we do when we see our children struggling? Link in bio for some recommendations Courtney’s gathered from the research she’s done… #worldmentalhealth
