Rabbityness by Jo Empson

Sweet illustrations, by Laura Uy
Laura Uy is a Canadian illustrator with such a lovely, playful style. Her work mainly focusses on greeting cards and prints, which make great decor pieces for children's rooms. I love that bear in the photo above, so whimsical (the gold stars are hand-painted and make the print extra pretty). Laura's greeting cards have such sweet illustrations with the cutest puns. There are cards for ...

Jim Flora wonderful wallpaper
Jim Flora  (1914-1998) was a mid-century artist known for his album covers and some fabulous children's books (The Day the Cow Sneezed, for example), and his illustrations are truly wonderful. Recently, a series of wallpaper was brought out in cooperation with Flora's estate, all using the original art and illustrations from his archival music images, paintings and abstract ...

Beautiful illustrations by Liekeland
How beautiful are these works by Dutch illustrator Lieke van der Vorst? They have something so innocent about them, and at the same time they are so incredibly wise. They would be perfect for a nursery, a kids' room, any room in the house, really. The third picture above is an illustration Lieke designed for a ...

Wild animals
Beautiful, these wet water colour animals made by Dutch illustrator/graphic designer Rop van Mierlo -- they're like works of art, really. The short video on the website is fun to watch because you can see how Rop creates his paintings, and he also quickly shows you the other gorgeous illustrations (I seriously love all of them). ...

Magical ABCs
Because my husband works in animation (and because he's rubbed off on me), we have become a bit selective when it comes to finding great books for our boys. Illustrations must be good, and the story, clever. We have to enjoy reading the book to them. Alison Jay's board books are beautifully illustrated, and while ...

Today we celebrate two of nature’s habitats - a forest and a pond. These are wild homes that offer shelter and rest for animals on our doortstep, and can be found in the most populated places, like the cities we live in! @freyahartas @rachel_m_williams #slowdownthebook #naturecraft #considerthelilies #natureshabitats #kidsscience #kidlit #mindfulness #stayathome #babyccinokids #babyccinocrafts

Dear friends, How are you? It’s a different world! Some of you may have been house-bound for a while now, and for some of you it’s only just beginning. Working from home, schooling from home, spending less time outside… No playdates, no sports or hobbies, no little trips to parks, pools, museums or even family. And even though we are physically further away from our friends and families than ever before, I feel that the world is bonding and reaching out to one another. On social media, so many artists are sharing work and so many companies are coming up with the most wonderful creative craft projects. On a local level, neighbours are helping each other out: cooking and baking and shopping for elderly people. In all of this time’s uncertainty, this is the stabile truth: we people take care of one another. WE matter, not the individual. Not the I. Here on Babyccino, we will keep doing what we have always done for twelve years: to inspire you and offer support. We will be sharing ideas from our archives as well as new posts, focussing on simplicity, togetherness and positivity. We will of course also still be supporting our community of wonderful small businesses! Stay tuned for our highlights on : Crafts & Creativity Toys & Games Recipes & Making Books & Films Housekeeping & Organisation Exercise & Health If there is anything you would like to hear more about, please let us know. We care, we share. Wishing you and your family and friends well. Stay safe everyone! Love, Our global Babyccino Team

Today’s activity from is based around looking at things in nature that you might normally miss. Use an old egg carton to create a collection of tiny things - fallen leaves, twigs, rocks or flowers that are on the ground. ‘Plant’ each one into a different hole in your egg box. What does each one look or feel like? Sometimes it’s the little things that remind us just how extraordinary life can be. @rachel_m_williams #slowdownthebook #naturecraft #itsthelittlethings #naturecollections #kidsscience #kidlit #babyccinokids #babyccinocrafts

An activity based around the many phases of the sky’s brightest light: the Moon. Each night, the Moon appears to have changed shape. In fact, it’s just going through it’s monthly journey around Earth. As it travels, it goes through eight different phases, called a lunar cycle. Make your own wall chart and learn about each phase. @freyahartas @rachel_m_williams #slowdownthebook #naturecraft #nightsky #phasesofthemoon #kidsscience #kidlit #babyccinokids #babyccino
