Banana Pancakes... the Best Breakfast! (and only 4 ingredients)
Ok, we actually call these 'banana MAN-cakes' in our house, since it was one of the first phrases my daughter said, and it made us chuckle, and now it has stuck... so that is what we really call them. But whatever you call them, they are super delicious, quick to make, fuss free, healthy, and ...

A Fun First Birthday Cake (and it is sugar free!)
I find first birthdays particularly bittersweet, because I love and cherish the sweetness of that first year of life. I think back to those first moments when they were born, and I am utterly amazed by how much the sweet babies grow in just one year! And because the first year of life is so ...

Sweet and sugar-free Valentine's party
I love to create small and sweet celebrations out of holidays, and Valentine's Day is no exception! While I was heavily pregnant last year, I wanted to do a fuss-free Valentine's Day 'baking' activity with my daughter, but without the dreaded sugar crash afterwards. So we made watermelon hearts, which are bake free, and only sweet ...

Wintery Fridays are lazy days for us. We spend the afternoon at the manege for horse riding lessons, then we stop at our local shop to pick up bread, cheese and dips. We put on our pyjamas, light a fire, and watch a film together (or recently, we have been following the Dutch edition of ...

Little Dish -- sponsors of our London ShopUp event
A while ago, I was sent a cook book by the lovely Little Dish Team. Honestly, it is still one of my main go-to books for when I need inspiration for a well-balanced, easy to make meal (you know the way you sometimes get into a rut of always cooking the same thing? It happens ...

Little Dish Cookbook
I have to say Bethie's post a few weeks ago did inspire me! I am not at all the kind of person that plans ahead, it just does not even occur to me, but the thing that struck a cord with me was sitting down with the kids and choosing the menu for the week together. ...

A healthy and yummy start of the year, with brown rice and lentils
This recipe has it all: it's made from ingredients you can probably find in your pantry. Also, it's super healthy, it's extremely yummy (my kids love it!), and it's super easy to make (albeit not extremely quick, unfortunately). I made this for Courtney & co when they visited us in Amsterdam last month, and she has practically been begging me ...

La Super Superette
A superette in France is a corner shop. Now, we do pride ourselves over here on our fabulous food but, secretly, most French do like a bit of junk: biscuits, chocolate, a frozen Lasagne -- it is not all croissants and oysters over here! Now, the good thing is that all this superette food has ...

Addicted to green smoothies!
My sister recently suggested I read Green for Life by Victoria Boutenko. She said the book had changed her life! (How's that for a recommendation?!) How can we manage worrying information around our children? Today’s blog post looks at these ‘unprecedented’ times. With news reels, articles, conversations, not only between adults but children too that are hard to ignore. It is impossible to shield our children from the worries and events of the wider world, and important to share some truths with them about what is happening. We are, as Maria Montessori put it, “Citizens of the World” and our children will be the ones to inherit it. Being in lockdown, (hello to everyone at home!) can make for a really good environment to nurture discussion, as we have time to drip feed explanations, observe reactions and unpick tricky questions. There are some simple ways we can help stem and support the flow of information, manage anxieties and make sense of the world around us all. So today we have tips in our bio, so click on the link and share with loved ones. And please stay safe. #babyccinokids #explainingcoronavirustokids @themontessoristudio

We’ve had a full-on week with home learning (as you all have I imagine) and managed to survive (just) the week in the house together. But this morning I felt we all needed a little time out from the work and we did maths through baking by making these delicious cookies. They were out of the oven just in time for a mid-morning brain break. I think we’ve tried every recipe for chocolate chip cookies but this is our favourite and today I thought I’d share it with you. I must warn you, they are not the healthiest, but during these times I think we are all in need of a little treat. Thanks to @vanessa_wild_flours for this idea ... and click on our bio for her yummy recipe! #babyccinokids #babyccinoeats
