PLAY etc. -- fun clothes for playful girls!
Summer has started here in the southern hemisphere and we've already had our taste of hot, sunny days and balmy hard-to-sleep nights. So hot, it's hard not to want to spend all day in your swimsuit, or better yet, in the ocean. Thankfully, my friend Bronwyn has just launched a brand of girls' clothing perfect ...

Sweet stocking fillers (and the cutest clothes and toys!) from Lublue
It's the time of year to think about stocking stuffers! Even though we don't traditionally hang stockings in the Netherlands, I have happily adopted the custom after living in the US and the UK. I remember sitting at our table in London and sewing our stockings from fabric remnant I had cheaply gotten at the John Lewis curtain department ...

Summertime simplicity, by Soor Ploom
Can we start talking about summer yet, or is it too soon?! At least we can start buying cute summery pieces in preparation for the warm, sunny days ahead, right? Soor Ploom is one of my very favourite brands for girls and I think their pieces sum up those sweet, simple summer days in the ...

Sara, growing up (and Marie Puce)
Sara is now 9 1/2 -- not long before we'll have a teenager in the house! It's crazy to think back to the moment when we first found out we were going to have a baby. Tamar and I were living in Brussels at the time, we had just gotten married a few months prior, ...

Liberty print sweetness (and knee patches!) from Milou & Pilou
We've just gotten home from a little trip to Venice, and I really can't wait to share photos and a summary of our trip. I just looked through all of our photos on our camera (precisely 589 of them!) and don't know how on earth I will ever narrow down a selection to share. That ...

Sweet yellow dresses from Ilovegorgeous
During our road trip from Las Vegas out to the Valley of Fire last week, we stopped along the way for a quick bathroom and diaper change break. The kids were excited to get out and stretch their legs, and they ran out to the road-side desert to pick some wildflowers. I couldn't help but ...

La Coqueta, timeless Spanish clothing with a modern twist
Just looking at the beautiful new A/W collection at La Coqueta makes me want to give my children's wardrobe a bit of an overhaul -- to chuck out their denim jeans with holes in the knees, their tatty tees, and their old tired hoodies... and replace them with tailored, timeless Spanish pieces. There is something ...

One Sunday
Sara turned eight last month. Eight! What a big daughter I have. She's also very tall and skinny, so I have been buying size 10 for her clothes, sometimes even size 12. And this is where we have a little bit of a problem -- most of the cute brands I know don't go bigger ...

Decorations that don’t waste too many precious cooking ingredients... yes please! We love this simple salt dough recipe!🧂 1 cup flour 1/2 cup salt 1/2 cup water 1. Preheat the oven to 120 °C and line baking tray with baking paper. 2. Mix flour and salt in the bowl then gradually add water, stirring until combined. 3. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface, roll out until about 7mm thick and transfer to baking tray. 4. Then all you need is an egg-shaped cookie cutter, which is easy to find at this time of the year. Cut them out and make a hole in each about a centimeter from the top edge. Bake on 120C for about three hours turning them once after about 2 hours. 5. Now paint both sides with one color or each in different and wait to dry completely. 6. After about an hour you can draw your favorite designs on the eggs (again, one or both sides). 7. Leave for about 12 hours or overnight to dry and finish them with glossy varnish. (Clear nail polish works nicely.) 8. Now just string the twine or a fishing line through holes and you’re done! 9. Place on branches or hang around the home. 10. Enjoy! 🥚🧂 More Easter ideas in our bio! #babyccinokids #babyccinocrafts #eastercraftsforkids #saltdoughornaments

How can we manage worrying information around our children? Today’s blog post looks at these ‘unprecedented’ times. With news reels, articles, conversations, not only between adults but children too that are hard to ignore. It is impossible to shield our children from the worries and events of the wider world, and important to share some truths with them about what is happening. We are, as Maria Montessori put it, “Citizens of the World” and our children will be the ones to inherit it. Being in lockdown, (hello to everyone at home!) can make for a really good environment to nurture discussion, as we have time to drip feed explanations, observe reactions and unpick tricky questions. There are some simple ways we can help stem and support the flow of information, manage anxieties and make sense of the world around us all. So today we have tips in our bio, so click on the link and share with loved ones. And please stay safe. #babyccinokids #explainingcoronavirustokids @themontessoristudio

We’ve had a full-on week with home learning (as you all have I imagine) and managed to survive (just) the week in the house together. But this morning I felt we all needed a little time out from the work and we did maths through baking by making these delicious cookies. They were out of the oven just in time for a mid-morning brain break. I think we’ve tried every recipe for chocolate chip cookies but this is our favourite and today I thought I’d share it with you. I must warn you, they are not the healthiest, but during these times I think we are all in need of a little treat. Thanks to @vanessa_wild_flours for this idea ... and click on our bio for her yummy recipe! #babyccinokids #babyccinoeats

The secret to a happy home... freshly baked cookies! And with only three ingredients your precious pantry won’t be robbed of its’ resources. The recipe for these mouth-watering (and gluten free) Peanut Butter Cookies : -1 cup of peanut butter -1 cup of brown sugar -1 egg In a large bowl, mix the ingredients together until you have a smooth, consistent dough. Using your hands, roll dough into small balls and place on a baking tray, evenly spaced. Press a fork into the dough balls in opposite directions making a criss-cross pattern. Then bake at 350° F (175° C) for 8-10 minutes. And that’s it. So easy! Enjoy. @courtneyadamo #babyccinokids #babyccinoeats #glutenfree
