Spiced Kinderglühwein punch, a wintry German tradition
Every year from late November to early January, Germans enjoy having some warm Glühwein! It's such a festive drink, and there would be no holiday season without it. So, since moving to Germany, we have joined in the tradition, and love making our own Glühwein at home during the colder months. It is a little ...

Apple Streusel Kuchen
A lot of things surprised my parents when they first moved to Germany as a young couple (no music playing between 12-3pm everyday, no greeting random strangers on the streets), but there was one custom they adopted immediately: the Sunday afternoon cake. The Sunday afternoon cake was, and hopefully still is, one of the best ...

Kaffee Klatsch
I recently hosted a baby shower for a great friend of mine over here in Paris, and as she is German I decided it was a perfect opportunity to celebrate a time-honoured German tradition: the Kaffee Klatsch. Literally translated this means a coffee gossip (as usual the Germans tell it like it is). You see, ...

The Little Mole
I think children's television can be beautiful and inspiring -- it's just that sadly most of it isn't.  As with most children (I'm guessing /hoping), my 3-year-old loves 'The Box'. I try to limit viewing but I have to admit it can sometimes come in handy to have him be still for half an hour whilst ...

Fagus
My friend, Sally, is the kind of person who has a home that always looks tidy, and it is rare that you see any toys outside of her kids' rooms. So when I discovered these beautiful wooden toys by Fagus on the floor of her kitchen, I just knew there must be something special about ...

To kiss or not to kiss and how many times? This is the question
I am so happy to be in France as the greeting etiquette here is simple. Everyone kisses everyone on each cheek. It doesn’t matter if you are old, young, female or male. Kids kiss all their classmates every morning when they get to school and grown-ups kiss every member of their office when they get ...

Everything Under the Sun is a new book out by Molly Oldfield. The book is a collection of answers to 366 curious questions asked by children from around the world. Fascinating facts are accompanied by vibrant illustrations from a selection of great illustrators, making the book as cute as it is educational. The book is based on the award-winning podcast @everythingunderthesunpod also by Molly Oldfield, where she and other experts answer questions sent in from children. We’ve been listening to Molly’s podcast episodes in the car, and we’re all learning so much! We’ve learned about bees and wind, narwhals and unicorns, to Egyptians and mummies. It’s so cute! I can’t recommend the book highly enough. Whether you read a question a day, or dip into it whenever you are feeling curious, this is a book to treasure and share all year round. It would also make a wonderful birthday gift for any young person in your life. @mollyoldfieldwrites @courtneyadamo #babyccinobooks #babyccinoreads
