Beautiful, handcrafted furniture from Kalon Studios
My friend, Michaele, and her husband Johann, started Kalon Studios back in 2007 shortly after the birth of their first daughter. They struggled to find a crib that met their needs in terms of design and sustainability, so they decided to create their own. Within a year of creating that first crib, Kalon was winning ...

My favourite brands from Byron Bay
There are roughly 9,000 people who live here in Byron Bay -- just over 30,000 if you include all the surrounding towns that make up all of Byron Shire. It is tiny! And yet, this little town is brimming with creative talent and beautiful brands. From designer furniture to stylish sandals, beach umbrellas to bikinis, and a ...

After existing online for almost three years, the modern and colorful high-end French kids design brand Little Cabari just opened its first real boutique on rue de Grenelle in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. I love their playful and whimsical yet chic universe and it has been a lovely experience getting to see all of ...

Perludi furniture: a cot, junior bed & ottoman (all in one)
We were given a hand-me-down cot from friends when our first baby was born and it's the cot we still use for Marlow. I think it must be at least 15 years old now, and it's one of those cots that is ONLY a cot, and nothing else.  If I were to buy a cot ...

Kalon Studios
I’m in the middle of designing my youngest daughter’s nursery and keep coming back again and again to so many pieces from Kalon Studios. Their cribs and dressers are gorgeous and have such a harmony in design that they feel perfect for what should be the most soothing space in your home, your child’s room. ...

Rasselfisch Cots
I went to visit the Rasselfisch boutique in Stuttgart a few weeks ago and kind of wished there wasn’t a certain someone waiting for me in the car because I would have ended up with a lot more than only a couple of things. It’s one of loveliest boutiques I’ve ever seen. Full of little treats ...

School desks and chairs from Molly-Meg
I love these retro school desks and matching child-sized chairs at Molly-Meg. They're perfectly sized to fit into small children's rooms or little reading nooks in smaller spaces. Plus, how fun are all the colours? Perhaps a good way to inspire some dedicated homework doing... x Courtney

Doll's House and Farm from Hase Weiss
We discovered these brilliant Hase Weiss creations at Playtime last weekend and fell instantly in love! Aren't they so beautiful? The modular doll's house (above) comes in one big box, but you can fit the rooms together in many different ways to create the perfect doll's house. And the farm (below) opens and closes with ...

Muller Stacking Bed
I get asked all the time if I know of any good, stylish children's beds for kids who have outgrown their cotbed but who are still young enough to need/want a child's bed. There is such a hole in the market here because I have literally searched and searched and the pickings are slim. The ...

Rien à Cirer
I have just had my entire flat repainted. My favourite part of having builders in is certainly not living on a building site, but spending countless hours daydreaming about how to decorate the rooms. So much fun, even if only 10% of my ideas actually ever see the light of the day! I am a big ...

STEK -- cool pieces, bold lines
For the past few months we've had a little STEK rocking chair living in our living room and we're all really, really pleased with it. I'm loving the bold, modern lines and the great colour (I chose the olive green one). It's an unmistakable piece in the room, it has a very strong shape, which ...

Plümo -- (this one is actually for the mums)
After putting the kids to bed and sitting down with a good, warm cup of tea (you just cannot take the Irish out of a gal, even when living in Paris), I grabbed my computer to sit down and write some blog posts. I was suddenly inspired not to write yet another post about great ...

An odd obsession
I'm obsessed with bunk beds. There. I've said it. I don't know why. It's a strange obsession to have, especially as I only have one child. I think it's because I live in an apartment and if I was to have more than one child then they'd probably have to have bunks. Perhaps it's also ...

Smallable
One of my favourite websites is an online "concept" shop called Smallable. I discovered it whilst searching various items I had spotted in magazines and they all lead to the same source: an e-shop in which every item makes me feel like ignoring the credit crunch.... The site feels like a great little boutique; there ...

Would you let your children get lost at night and let them find their own way back home? ‘Comfort Zones’ is an anthology of essays written by a pool of women writers who were invited to think about their usual ‘comfort’ subject matter and then work against it.
