Playa Provisions - A Beachside Eatery
Playa Provisions is the kind of spot that's just perfect for dining at any time of day, really. The beachside location in Playa del Rey contributes to the pleasurable experience, but it's the four-dining-concepts-under-one-roof that make you feel like you've landed in dining paradise. Choose between their coffee and pastry counter, the ice cream shop ...

Superba Food and Bread in Venice - A Neighborhood Hot Spot Among Locals
If you show up to Superba Food & Bread in Venice on a weekend around 7.30am / 8.00am, you’ll be sure to find all the neighborhood strollers (and a few dogs) parked outside, while kids (most still in their pjs) enjoy an early morning snack inside with their groggy parents. Not only is their coffee ...

Grab a Quick Coffee
Los Angeles is sprinkled with good coffee and tea options. Depending on where you live (and if you are lucky!), good coffee options are in walking distance. I'm one of the few adults who never has and probably never will be a coffee drinker (I crave a good chai latte!), but I'm surrounded by people ...

Greecologies - a yogurt bar in Little Italy
It's not hard at all to find Greek yogurt in most groceries and bodegas in New York, but for something a bit more special and unique, Greecologies, a yogurt lab and café in Little Italy, provides a perfect place to stop for breakfast or a mid-day snack. The shop's signature offering is traditional small-batch Greek ...

Grab a quick Coffee
In Spain we are such food lovers that we have meals between meals. Before lunch we have the aperitivo (which you can also have before dinner) and after lunch you have merienda (tea time) which is one of my favourites, and is in most families an unpardonable part of the day. As we know breakfast, ...

Pinham Cafe
Nestled between the trees and gardens of the Turo Park, is this cute little cafe called Pinhan. Recently redesigned, this is a place where you can have the typical 'aperitivo' (snack before a meal like olives and a shandy), a coffee with a friend, or a quick meal with the kids. Here you will be ...

Casa Bonay, Barcelona
Located in the middle of the Eixample Dret, surrounded by the cities most iconic sites lies Casa Bonay. Originally home to the Bonay family, this establishment was built in 1869, and although the building itself has been remodelled countless times, the neoclassical facade remains untouched. Home now to 67 rooms, Casa Bonay boasts of luminous ...

Palau de la Musica
Although you may not be able to see the flamenco concert you were hoping to see, unless you leave the kids with a childminder, this is a building that is worth a visit just because it is so beautiful. Its story is also quite heart warming since it was built for the citizens of Barcelona ...

Over the last several years the coffee culture in New York has improved dramatically, and it's now possible to procure a serious cup of coffee in just about every neighborhood. As most coffee-loving  mamas can probably agree, there comes a time as our little ones grow when babyccinos just don't cut it as the perfect cafe distraction. Our darling toddler doesn't want to sit still for even thirty seconds to let us enjoy a sip of our hot cup of caffeinated goodness, there is too much fun ...

Le Pain Quotidien
One of my favourite international chains in the world must be Le Pain Quotidien (PQ). Even after, I don't know, 10 years or so, I still am not tired of the deliciousness of the PQ tartines, cakes, salads and, well, everything. So the fact that the PQ finally came to Amsterdam has made me very, ...

Bodum Travel Press
One of my little pet peeves is drinking cold coffee -- and at the moment my coffee gets cold very, very often! Between getting kids out of bed, dressed, to the breakfast table, into coats and out of the door, my sacred cup of coffee (strong, with a drop of milk, no sugar) gets put ...

Kaffe 1668 -- The new Tribeca fix
So the very loud, stay-at-home dad that I have written about before is truly a deep and bottomless well of good information. Vive le café
Every country has its own coffee etiquette. The US has given us the coffee chains with the ubiquitous paper cups in different sizes. The Italians have given us the no frills espresso and the cappuccino. But what about the French? What is the difference between a noisette, a crème and a café au lait? What ...

George and coffee.
I'm Italian and I drink coffee, but not just any coffee. I like espresso, not too strong, not too bitter, not too sour... I'm picky! I prefer to make it myself, but after having babies there is just no time to mess around with a traditional coffee maker! (I was happy to move back to ...

Is there light (Starbucks) at the end of the tunnel?
Italians invented espresso and cappuccino. Fantastic! Humanity will be grateful forever. Then we stopped there. Why is it that every other country capitalized on our inventions, and now have more choices when getting a hot drink than the average Italian could ever dream of? Our range is limited to espresso, espresso macchiato, cappuccino and caffelatte. ...
