THURSDAY THOUGHTS
My thoughts on child birth
I was on the phone to Courtney the other night and we were laughing about how people can have such different attitudes towards child birth. There is a world of difference between the hippie town of Byron Bay and inner city Paris! Here is my theory: for me birth is a bit like a long-haul ...

What to pack in your hospital bag
As I wrote last week, we are hoping to welcome our baby at home (there is a big inflatable birth pool in my bedroom as I write this! on the eve of my due date no less!), so I have not even packed a hospital bag. Everything we need for the birth and for the baby ...

Welcome sweet baby Marlow!
It was a bit of a wait, but she's finally here, and she couldn't have been any cuter or any more perfect: Marlow Mae Adamo was born at 7:11 this morning. Courtney gave birth to her in the birthing pool, and it was a beautiful and amazing natural birth experience. I'm so happy, and so proud! ...

We will teach you to make love again
I read this article in the Guardian by Janine di Giovanni called "We will teach you to make love again" and I could not resist mentioning it on Babyccino. For me it reflects a lot my experiences of being a mother in France. The article is definitely written with a big pinch of irony and ...

The Italian way
I've had two babies. One born in London, and my second born in Milan. I found the whole experience of childbirth to be much different here in Italy compared to northern Europe (and probably the U.S). For starters, women in Italy get to stay in hospital much longer after the birth. Even with a straight-forward, ...

Haptonomy
As I am pregnant in France, I am learning very quickly about a new system. There seems to be a lot more birth options in France than in the UK covered by social security. We have gone down the route of a private midwife. This was mostly because we wanted to get to know the ...

Mommy makeover? Not my cup of tea.
During the summer, while I was halfway through pregnancy #2, I was already thinking about the months and months it would take me to regain my already less than perfect figure after the birth. It's then that I started joking with my husband that what I wanted this time as a gift, instead of a diamond ...
