Tips for decorating a teen girl's bedroom from Bodie and Fou
My friend Karine from Bodie and Fou got in touch last week to share her recent before-and-after renovation project of her daughter, Mila's bedroom. Mila is the same age as my eldest (and she's also really into surfing!) so it's always interesting for me to see the girl version of twelve years old. (I often marvel ...

British-made mattresses from Eve Mattress
My husband and I moved from America to London five years ago with our newborn baby girl, Charlotte. We optimistically moved into an unfurnished flat and then began the daunting task of furnishing the place from scratch! I was unfamiliar with the brands and shops in this new country, and really had no clue where ...

Room decór & accessories from Little Cloud
The wall behind the girls' bed was feeling a bit bare, and I was trying to think of what to hang there when I discovered these sweet name wire signs from Little Cloud. I ordered one for each of the girls and I think they look so sweet hanging on that wall. (It also, conveniently, ...

Tante Ted -- just for boys!
Tante Ted ('Aunty Ted') is a Dutch brand focussing exclusively on boys bedding and accessories. I've known Ted for a few years now and I've seen his brand develop, and it's so cool that his collection is now professionally produced by bedding company Damai! Well deserved, because Ted just knows what boys like. The bedding for ...

For the past few months we've had a little STEK rocking chair living in our living room and we're all really, really pleased with it. I'm loving the bold, modern lines and the great colour (I chose the olive green one). It's an unmistakable piece in the room, it has a very strong shape, which ...

My name is...
When we moved back to the US, one of the most important things for our 3½-year-old was her new room -- what would it look like?  In order to keep some consistency (the poor thing had to deal with an international move AND a new baby sister at the same time), I made sure to ...

Earlier this week, a successful beauty blogger in the Netherlands, Nikkie de Jager @nikkietutorials publicly announced that she is transgender. A very brave thing to do and was incredibly impressed by her story and the way she chose to share it. If you haven’t seen it yet, there is a lot to learn from Nikkie’s coming out video on youtube. It is an inspiring message from a strong roll model, addressing young people who feel insecure, misunderstood or simply not in the right place. It is about acceptance, respect, hearing and understanding each other, about writing your own story, about the power of being yourself — whoever you are and whatever you are. It is also about the importance of supportive parenting. Nikkie shares that she is intensely grateful for her mother, who always saw and heard, listened and understood, respected and supported her in her choices and in her transition. We have always tried to be straightforward in discussing sex and reproduction with our children, and open about the idea that heterosexuality is just one shade of a wider spectrum of diversity. Thanks for the new blog post @estherbabyccino ... what are your thoughts? Comment below and link is in bio. #babyccinokids #thursdaythoughts

If you’re looking for an idea to help children run off that pre-dinner energy, this is it... a winter scavenger hunt! The idea from our lovely Shannon @slcorlis is a pretty loose and flexible one: to walk around after dark and see how many winter and holiday things kids can spot either decorating homes and businesses or peeking through windows. Decorations are often left up until early January, so there’s still plenty of time to have a go at this before the end of the season. See her helpful how to on today’s blog. #babyccinokids #scavengerhunt #winteractivities
