Perfect Picnics!
Did you know that last week was National Picnic Week here in the UK? It's an initiative to encourage people to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. (With this lousy weather we're having, it's true we all need a bit of encouragement! Blaaah!) Anyway, we thought we would roll with the picnic theme and ...

Radish Moon porringers
A few days back I took a photo of the porringer I had as a baby, and which I still use daily for my children. It is just the perfect size and shape, shallow with a ridge, so it's easy to scoop out the purees or soup. The thick stoneware ensures the food quickly cools ...

Got to love eggs!
Do your kids love eggs so much too? Ava, our 2 year old, is especially a total egg addict -- she could eat 5 eggs a day if I let her! My mum used to say that eating more than 3 eggs a week was bad for your health, it would be bad for your ...

Cake Pops
Some gadgets are essential in life, like a can opener and, for me, an espresso maker. Others are not essential at all, but really fun to have. Take the cake pops maker, which my girls were given for Christmas. It will definitely not be used daily, but it is great to have for rainy afternoons ...

New Apron
I have decided that it is time for me to grow up and accept a wisdom of generations and generations of men and women: it makes sense to wear an apron when cooking. It actually makes sense to wear an apron when cooking, cleaning and crafting. In fact, an apron is a great idea! The ...

Homemade yoghurt
Have you ever thought about making your own yoghurt? We've been doing it since we visited friends in France a few years ago and they served cute little jars for dessert filled with their own homemade yoghurt. And it was the best yoghurt we ever had! We purchased a 'yoghurt maker' (similar to these, UK/US), ...

Landmade, for simple household items from France
One of the many advantages of living in a relatively small flat in Paris is that my storage space is limited, which in turn means that I  don't accumulate a lot of useless stuff. (BTW, this actually goes completely against my nature, so it has been an 'interesting' learning curve -- to learn to think ...

Hello Kitty Water Bottles
I had never given Hello Kitty a second thought... until one day, shortly before my daughter's third birthday, she announced at the dinner table that her favourite colour was pink and she loved Hello Kitty! I nearly did a double take! Could she really be announcing a new obsession with pink?!! And Hello Kitty? Yes ...

Sigg Bottles
Summer means drinking a lot of water. I read somewhere that a grown-up should drink at least 1.5 litres of fluids a day. I tried it once and it did make me feel great, but it actually took a huge amount of effort and I have not done it since! One of my pet peeves are ...

Enamel love!
I recently picked up some enamel pieces -- I love enamel! I like the clean look of it and the timelessness of the pieces. Enamel is in fact metal with a thin layer of paint and glass over it. It is perfect for children, as it won't scatter in pieces when it falls, but pieces ...

Made from corn!
Ava is now 18 months old, and she's quite a little character. She knows exactly what she wants and is incredibly clever in communicating it. Breton Bowls
I am a big fan of French beachside resorts and also of all the things that go with them. Sun (sometimes), sand, smurf-blue and bubble-gum pink ice-cream, crazy looking postcards and gift shops with a huge selection of tacky, cheap gifts in them, etc. In short, French beach resorts are heaven for kids. In the ...

Hi guys! Here Bethie and I are showing you how to prepare a super easy dish that your family will love -- a video we bring to you in cooperation with Abel & Cole, deliverer of fabulous food boxes filled to the brim with organic freshness! Here's the list of ingredients: a royal 1 tbsp of olive oil 1 butternut squash 1 red onion 2 red peppers 2 garlic cloves 4 vine tomatoes 150g quinoa sea salt & freshly ground pepper 300 ml vegetable stock 2 tbsp red wine vinegar 25g raisins 80g black olives And for the garnish: a handful of chervil feta (optional) Directions: Peel your butternut squash. Cut in half and scoop out the seeds. Chop the flesh into 1cm chunks. Peel and cut the onion into thick slices. Cut the pepper in half and scoop out the seeds and white pith. Chop into bitesized pieces. Peel and thinly slice the garlic. Roughly chop the tomatoes. Rinse the quinoa under cold water to remove any bitterness. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large heavy based pan. Tip in all the veg and quinoa. Pour in the veg stock and the red wine vinegar. Add the raisins and the olives. Season with salt and pepper. Pop on a lid and cook for 30-40 mins until the squash is soft and the sauce thick. Stir every now and then during cooking. Scatter over the chervil (or flat leaf parsley leaves) and serve in warm bowls. Top with crumbled feta if you like! A super colourful, super easy and super delicious dish for taste buds of all ages! Bon appétit!
