Perfect Picnics!
Did you know that last week was National Picnic Week here in the UK? It's an initiative to encourage people to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. (With this lousy weather we're having, it's true we all need a bit of encouragement! Blaaah!) Anyway, we thought we would roll with the picnic theme and ...

Radish Moon porringers
A few days back I took a photo of the porringer I had as a baby, and which I still use daily for my children. It is just the perfect size and shape, shallow with a ridge, so it's easy to scoop out the purees or soup. The thick stoneware ensures the food quickly cools ...

Got to love eggs!
Do your kids love eggs so much too? Ava, our 2 year old, is especially a total egg addict -- she could eat 5 eggs a day if I let her! My mum used to say that eating more than 3 eggs a week was bad for your health, it would be bad for your ...

Cake Pops
Some gadgets are essential in life, like a can opener and, for me, an espresso maker. Others are not essential at all, but really fun to have. Take the cake pops maker, which my girls were given for Christmas. It will definitely not be used daily, but it is great to have for rainy afternoons ...

New Apron
I have decided that it is time for me to grow up and accept a wisdom of generations and generations of men and women: it makes sense to wear an apron when cooking. It actually makes sense to wear an apron when cooking, cleaning and crafting. In fact, an apron is a great idea! The ...

Homemade yoghurt
Have you ever thought about making your own yoghurt? We've been doing it since we visited friends in France a few years ago and they served cute little jars for dessert filled with their own homemade yoghurt. And it was the best yoghurt we ever had! We purchased a 'yoghurt maker' (similar to these, UK/US), ...

Landmade, for simple household items from France
One of the many advantages of living in a relatively small flat in Paris is that my storage space is limited, which in turn means that I  don't accumulate a lot of useless stuff. (BTW, this actually goes completely against my nature, so it has been an 'interesting' learning curve -- to learn to think ...

Hello Kitty Water Bottles
I had never given Hello Kitty a second thought... until one day, shortly before my daughter's third birthday, she announced at the dinner table that her favourite colour was pink and she loved Hello Kitty! Sigg Bottles
Summer means drinking a lot of water. I read somewhere that a grown-up should drink at least 1.5 litres of fluids a day. I tried it once and it did make me feel great, but it actually took a huge amount of effort and I have not done it since! One of my pet peeves are ...

I recently picked up some enamel pieces -- I love enamel! I like the clean look of it and the timelessness of the pieces. Enamel is in fact metal with a thin layer of paint and glass over it. It is perfect for children, as it won't scatter in pieces when it falls, but pieces ...

Made from corn!
Ava is now 18 months old, and she's quite a little character. She knows exactly what she wants and is incredibly clever in communicating it. Breton Bowls
I am a big fan of French beachside resorts and also of all the things that go with them. When both of my kids broke out in uncontrollable laughter as I read Eletelephony by Laura E. Richards, I knew we had a winner! Do your children love poems and can they recite any by heart? Today on our blog @slcorlis shares an interesting New York Times article on the value of memorizing poetry, which historically was very common (before the invention of writing, it was the only way to possess a poem) but has mostly fallen out of favor in more recent times (why bother memorizing something when you can simply call it up on your phone at a moment’s notice?). It speaks about the value of diligent work and the benefits that come from challenging ourselves, and also of the way the repetition involved in memorizing draws you closer to words and their meaning, and to the broader world of literature and human experience. What about you? Do you remember reciting poems from memory as a child? And finally, do share any poetry collections you’ve loved reading as a family. ️ #babyccinokids #babyccinoreads

LOLA Art Boxes are the most wonderful way to introduce creativity in your family. Every month, the talented @lotsoflovelyart team assembles everything you need to create three artist-inspired projects, including an introduction to the artist, recommendations on books or artworks to discover and galleries to visit, plus of course ALL the high quality materials you need to make a true masterpiece. Ava loved this craft project so much, and a subscription to LOLA art boxes is the number one thing she is asking for Christmas! You can buy the one-off boxes, but also choose to get one delivered to you every month (or two months). There are boxes for children aged 6 plus, but also ones that are perfect for smaller children (3+). The craft ideas are always original and clever, the materials are of great quality, and every detail is thought of and included. These boxes are a great gift! If you are in London for the ShopUp in two weeks, you can meet the LOLA team personally and check out their amazing boxes in person. They will be there both days!! @theshopup @estherbabyccino #sponsored #art #artforkids #makeart #babyccinocrafts

Conker spiderwebs! This is an oldie but a goodie, perfect for a weekend craft, manageable for little hands but also extremely entertaining for bigger ones. And it’s quite an addictive thing to do! You’ll need : Conkers Wooden skewers Any sharp tool like pointy scissors to make a little hole in the conkers Yarn Scissors Make 5 evenly spread out holes in the conkers. Push the skewers in the holes so they are tightly inserted. Choose a yarn to start with. With a flat knot, secure the yarn around one of the skewers. Start weaving by twisting around each skewer before you go to the next one. If you want to start a new colour, just knot the yarn around a skewer to secure it, and tie the new colour to the next skewer. Keep going until you’re happy. Lovely idea from @estherbabyccino #conkers #babyccinocrafts #babyccinokids

About a year ago, Courtney shared a selection of Wilkie’s favourite picture books, many of which are still on rotation as his favourite bedtime reads. But he’s beginning to enjoy the slightly longer stories now. She snapped a photo of his current go-to books, most of them he can pretty much read to himself because he’s read them at least 100 times! What are your favourite kid books for nearly two year olds? @courtneyadamo
