A Pizza Playdate
With new friends in my daughter's new school, it seems that there are lots of new playdate requests, so playdates are a big part of our social calendar. I have recently discovered the perfect activity (especially on cold wintery days indoors): a pizza-making playdate. It ticks all the boxes: happy, healthy, and fun. Plus, you ...

School lunch ideas and our favourite lunch boxes by PlanetBox
When we lived in London, the children were able to eat lunch prepared and served by their school. We were lucky that the school's lunch options were mostly good and healthy, and we didn't have to think or worry about what they would be eating at lunch time. (Thinking about it now, I don't think ...

A Fun First Birthday Cake (and it is sugar free!)

Little Tables -- Breakfasts from around the World
According to this article, Dutch children enjoy one of the happiest childhoods in the world, and one of the reasons given for this is the fact that many of them start their morning with 'hagelslag' (chocolate sprinkles) on their bread. I'm not sure how much influence the exact sort of breakfast has on the overall happiness of ...

Preparing for baby -- stocking the freezer!
With colourful Autumn produce spilling out of our local Farmer's Market this weekend, I was reminded of this time last year. I also recalled the yummy feasts of stews and soups that ...

Chicken and Apricot Curry - a family favourite
We are having the craziest Spring weather here in Scotland. We've had snow and hail and bright blue skies all in one day over the past week and we're on a weather warning tonight! Happy Face Shortbread Biscuits
We love our sugar cookie recipe, but because the recipe calls for shortening (which isn’t always easy to find) and requires that you put the dough in the fridge for an hour before baking, it’s not one of those quick make and bake recipes. I was on the hunt for an easier version when Ivy ...

Hi guys! Here Bethie and I are showing you how to prepare a super easy dish that your family will love -- a video we bring to you in cooperation with Abel & Cole, deliverer of fabulous food boxes filled to the brim with organic freshness! Here's the list of ingredients: a royal 1 tbsp of olive oil 1 butternut squash 1 red onion 2 red peppers 2 garlic cloves 4 vine tomatoes 150g quinoa sea salt & freshly ground pepper 300 ml vegetable stock 2 tbsp red wine vinegar 25g raisins 80g black olives And for the garnish: a handful of chervil feta (optional) Directions: Peel your butternut squash. Cut in half and scoop out the seeds. Chop the flesh into 1cm chunks. Peel and cut the onion into thick slices. Cut the pepper in half and scoop out the seeds and white pith. Chop into bitesized pieces. Peel and thinly slice the garlic. Roughly chop the tomatoes. Rinse the quinoa under cold water to remove any bitterness. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large heavy based pan. Tip in all the veg and quinoa. Pour in the veg stock and the red wine vinegar. Add the raisins and the olives. Season with salt and pepper. Pop on a lid and cook for 30-40 mins until the squash is soft and the sauce thick. Stir every now and then during cooking. Scatter over the chervil (or flat leaf parsley leaves) and serve in warm bowls. Top with crumbled feta if you like! A super colourful, super easy and super delicious dish for taste buds of all ages! Bon appétit!
