Little wreaths for little hands -- Christmas decor with foraged goods
We love making crafts over the Christmas season in our home, and this year, we fell in love with these beautiful, delicate, easy to make wreaths. They are very minimal, and look lovely grouped together. And all the items were foraged! Generally Christmas wreaths are very abundant, with greens, and ribbons and additional accessories. But ...

Resist the temptation for a new Christmas Sweater -- make your own instead!
I understand the novelty of Christmas jumpers/sweaters each year... they are cute, fun, and festive. But honestly, it makes my brain hurt just thinking about how wasteful it is to buy one each year, for each person in your home (especially the kids that keep growing), and multiply that times all the families, homes, countries, ...

Cranberry Garland -- a simple little Christmas craft and decoration
Growing up, we always made cranberry garlands for our Christmas tree at home, and after posting a photo of my daughter making them last year on Instagram, I was surprised to realise it is not common in Europe! People loved the idea, and kept asking me how to do it, so I thought I would ...

Make your own Christmas wreath -- it's easy!

So, I gathered some supplies dropped by a friend's house, had a cup of tea, and got right down to wreath-making work. And we are so happy with our experiment.... and the ...

Making beeswax candles -- a lovely holiday craft (and a perfect gift)!
Making beeswax candles is a perfect DIY project for these cosy months of the year. Beeswax is entirely natural, even edible! So it's perfectly safe to play with, even by the littlest children. But making beeswax candles (and decorating them) is a lovely activity for all ages. I really like playing around with the wax ...

An easy Christmas craft: clay ornaments and decorations
This is honestly the easiest Christmas craft, something the kids can do almost entirely on their own, and it has the prettiest result! Christmas Craft: Scandanavian Nisse from simple materials
I visited a friend's house recently and loved their festive decorations. These sweet, small, little elves stood out on their brunch table.  I asked for more information on the origin, and found out that she made them as a young child. She was quite nostalgic about them, and now her children look forward to putting ...

Earlier this week, a successful beauty blogger in the Netherlands, Nikkie de Jager @nikkietutorials publicly announced that she is transgender. A very brave thing to do and was incredibly impressed by her story and the way she chose to share it. If you haven’t seen it yet, there is a lot to learn from Nikkie’s coming out video on youtube. It is an inspiring message from a strong roll model, addressing young people who feel insecure, misunderstood or simply not in the right place. It is about acceptance, respect, hearing and understanding each other, about writing your own story, about the power of being yourself — whoever you are and whatever you are. It is also about the importance of supportive parenting. Nikkie shares that she is intensely grateful for her mother, who always saw and heard, listened and understood, respected and supported her in her choices and in her transition. We have always tried to be straightforward in discussing sex and reproduction with our children, and open about the idea that heterosexuality is just one shade of a wider spectrum of diversity. Thanks for the new blog post @estherbabyccino ... what are your thoughts? Comment below and link is in bio. #babyccinokids #thursdaythoughts

If you’re looking for an idea to help children run off that pre-dinner energy, this is it... a winter scavenger hunt! The idea from our lovely Shannon @slcorlis is a pretty loose and flexible one: to walk around after dark and see how many winter and holiday things kids can spot either decorating homes and businesses or peeking through windows. Decorations are often left up until early January, so there’s still plenty of time to have a go at this before the end of the season. See her helpful how to on today’s blog. #babyccinokids #scavengerhunt #winteractivities
