Discussion -- What Subscription/Delivery Services do you use?
I've always loved drawing inspiration and reading discussions on this platform, whether small or more complex parenting topics. So I wanted to pop in here and quickly ask a very profound question; what subscription-based delivery services does your family use that you would recommend? Ha! Serious question. I'm curious if there are any subscription-based services out ...

10 Tips for Working at Home with Kids during COVID-19
How's everyone doing? School? No school? Back-to-work? Still at home? I want to preface this post by saying I am by no means an expert at working from home fulltime with kids also at home fulltime. It's a big difference from working at home while your kids are at school or camp. Just before COVID, I accepted a ...

Do You Keep Things Even in Your Family? Some thoughts
"Do I get a new book bag too?" "Why did you read three books to Charlotte and I only get one? No fair!" Do you see where this is going? Today I’m talking about the constant questions and comments on fairness and evenness when it comes to young children. Is it a thing in your ...

Sweet potato hummus + a few other ideas for a busy week!
I have an ongoing list of things I don't buy and opt to make from scratch for the purposes of health, food waste, and to save money. Things like granola, stock, sauce, salad dressing, and baked goods most often are made using things we already have on hand. Hummus this past year, in various forms, ...

Thursday Thoughts: Do You Make Your Kids Stay at the Table at Mealtimes?
My husband and I have had a bit of a predicament lately which has left us with this question I'd love to ask you: When your kids are finished eating, do you make them stay at the table until everyone is finished or do you excuse them? We’ve always let our girls get down when ...

Weekend Getaway: Whidbey Island, WA
The wildlife, the golden hour (now I see what a true golden hour actually is!), the endless views of cliffsides meeting the ocean, the Penn Cove mussels... oh, I could go on! I’m talking about Whidbey Island. Earlier this summer, we kicked off our annual “Summer out of a Suitcase” by heading to the ...

A new kind of list making
I made a list today, a different kind of list than I usually do. Not a to-do list, or a grocery list, or a list of errands to run, or a list in my gratitude journal that doesn't exist because I have zero extra time in my day for that. It originated as a ...

'Cookies: Bite Sized Life Lessons'
Cooperation is, “how about I add the chocolate chips while you stir the cookie dough?” Patience is waiting, waiting, and more waiting for the cookies to be finished baking. And respect is offering the first cookie out of the oven to your grandmother. The book Cookies: Bite-Sized Life Lessons, is just that -- a book ...

A fun summer find -- ECOBO Beach Toys
I finally, by total accident, recently came across non-plastic beach toys for our summer adventures, and couldn't help but share in case there are any other parents out there still on the hunt for the beach toys. A few weeks ago, I popped into one of my favorite shops, Port of Raleigh, for a birthday ...

Weekend Getaway: New Orleans!
New Orleans! Oh I love this city even more now that I have children. Growing up less than an hour from Nola, with much of my extended living family still living there, I was lucky enough to be heavily influenced by the city’s rich culture, strong tastes, sounds, and sights. New Orleans may be notoriously ...

Have you taken your kids to Disney?
My sister-in-law just surprised her two young girls with a trip to Disney World for spring break. Intrigued, I asked my mother-in-law a few questions who has been several times. Her ears immediately perked up at my interest. She apparently never thought I’d ask and is pretty eager to take my kids one day! I’m ...

This gym bag is such a fun and easy project, also for beginners this is a nice sewing project. Esther, Emilie and the kids had so much fun going to the market choosing all the supplies. The fabrics from Little Cube are the cutest!
