Spiced Apple and Honey Cake -- a favourite autumnal treat!
This Spiced Apple and Honey Cake is one of our favourites and the girls love getting involved and crowning it with the apple slices and drizzling over the honey. The recipe is really quick and versatile and you can use whichever flour you have to hand -- plain will give you a lighter bouncy sponge, ...

Apple Print Pumpkins - Fast and Fun DIY Halloween Decorations
We just returned from a holiday in California and from the minute we arrived we were struck by how many of the houses already had their Halloween decorations up. The kids couldn't get enough of all the ghosts and monsters hanging from people's porches and the front yards decked out like crime scenes. It certainly ...

Apple picking at La Cueillette de Gally
Just a few kilometres south west from Paris, right behind the Château de Versailles, lies a farm called La Ferme de Gally. It is divided in two parts: the actual farm where you can see cows, goats, sheep, donkeys, rabbits and pigs, and the fruits and vegetables farm where you can go pick your seasonal ...

Apple picking and cake baking
We arrived to my family's beach house on Bainbridge Island last week on a rainy, stormy Friday. From inside, we could see the apple trees behind the house were laden with fruit. So while the rain came down, we sat inside and schemed up things we could bake with all those apples. We decided on apple cake, so I ...

Apple Streusel Kuchen
A lot of things surprised my parents when they first moved to Germany as a young couple (no music playing between 12-3pm everyday, no greeting random strangers on the streets), but there was one custom they adopted immediately: the Sunday afternoon cake. The Sunday afternoon cake was, and hopefully still is, one of the best ...

Instant Apple Crumble

Apple Eve Pudding
Now I know the French are known for their fancy pastries and cakes, but the English are hard to beat at simple, wholesome, easy-to-make desserts. One of my favourites is Apple Eve Pudding, a variation on Apple Crumble. Instead of crumble you add a sponge batter on top of the apples. I love the way ...

Apple stamping and tote bag making!
Last May it was Sara's 7th birthday, and she wished for a 'sewing' party with her girlfriends. I suspect this has to do with the craft night I organise with a few of my girlfriends every 2 weeks on Monday night, which involves tea and homemade cake and lots of chit-chat. Sara loves the idea ...
