Hello everyone, it’s Nomi , I know you have seen me around here writing about sourdough bread and pizza, but I am thrilled to announce that from now on I will be a regular contributor to the Babyccino blog. I love nature and crafts, baking and making, cooking and living with the seasons. If you like to find out more about me and my background, please have a look here.
Today, I would like to treat you two the easiest and most delicious chewy caramels — treat you to the recipe, that is!
Autumn has hit us and school has begun. I don’t know about you but in this house we need some treats to help us transition from the warm seemingly endless summer to the rainy schoolruns. So, after having made flapjacks the other day that required condensed milk — something I didn’t grow up with and always steered clear of somehow — and that worked out so well, I decided to use the leftover tin of condensed milk to try my hand at home made caramels.
They’re easy to make.
They only require two ingredients.
They look and taste amazing.

Method:
Put the butter and condensed milk together in a saucepan and heat over medium heat while constantly stirring until the mixture turns into a dark golden, thickened caramel.
Pour the caramel onto your lined tin and wait 5 minutes before rolling it out gently with your rolling pin (add the salt flakes on top to make salted caramel. I intended to do this but forgot!).
Cut into small rectangles (a wet knife works best), and wrap in little baking parchment squares.
How sweet (pun intended!) are these in a little jar? Handmade sweets have such a magical appeal to me, and wouldn’t they make a lovely little present for a special friend?
Nomi xx
PS Caramel Apples, another autumn favourite!
