Zesty Pink Grapefruit Body Sugar Scrub — perfect for mama pampering time and gifts too!

I am slightly obsessed with indulgent skincare products; it is one of my favourite quick ways to feel pampered. But often the cost is shocking! So I decided to research ways to make natural, healthy, and cost-effective skincare products. And if it was good enough for me, it could be a great gift for other mama friends too!

I love my new, Zesty Grapefruit Sugar Scrub, and have modified a few recipes to make it my very own. It exfoliates without leaving skin dry, and it washes away easily without leaving a greasy residue to clean up in the bathtub. Perfect for hands, feet, the back of your knees, or anywhere you need to exfoliate. Your skin will feel incredibly smooth and delicious once you rub it on and rinse it away. I am convinced the Vitamin C seeps into your pores making you more glowing, radiant and healthier.  The aroma alone is a great way to awaken a wintery mood on a grey day. And the scent is amazing in your bathroom.

Warning though, it is so yummy smelling, you will need to remind yourself not to eat it while making it. And making it is super simple with just five ingredients you can buy at a grocery store. It costs less than a £3 per jar, and will last a few months, if you keep it for yourself that is!

You will need:

  • 1/4 cup fresh squeezed pink grapefruit juice
  • 1 tablespoon pink grapefruit zest
  • 1-1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 7 drops of organic Grapefruit Oil
  • a zester or grater
  • clean glass jars with lids
  • mixing bowl

Simply mix all the ingredients together in one bowl. Yes it is that simple. You will admire the gorgeous colour. And of course if you want to add more zest, etc, you should modify it to your desire! I keep my in the refrigerator since it has natural juices in it, but I am sure it is fine in a cool space. And I plan to use it in 1-2 months…. if it lasts that long!

My only regret is that I didn’t make a bigger bulk of it! But I plan to make more very soon.

I’d love to know your natural skincare tips and recipes. Please share them with me, I am now a DIY skincare convert!

Grapefruit is one of my favorites, and this looks amazing! Do you know how long the shelf life is? Also, do you store it in the fridge or is room temperature OK?

It is amazing Rachel, I am guessing I can keep it about 2 months, in the refrigerator, but I am not sure it will last that long. The smell is divine! Enjoy. x

What a nice gift idea. Does it need to be refrigerated and/or how long would you say it lasts? Many thanks in advance.

Good point, I will update the blog too, but even thou I have read that it doesn’t need to be refrigerated, I think it is better and will last longer. Natural juices are probably best in a cool space. Hope that helps. Enjoy!
