Bram is not big on solids yet. He bravely tries little bites of mashed carrot, sweet potato or banana, then squeezes his face as if I’m feeding him a lemon. And basically refuses to eat the rest of the dish. I’ve had a bit of succes with avocado and broccoli (perhaps he only likes green food?). And he loves bread, so I feed him little pieces of soft bread or let him chew on a crust. I’m not worried too much about his lack of enthusiasm for ‘real food’. He’s not my first baby who has to warm up to solids. I just let him discover food slowly and know that he will eat confidently soon enough!
The natural rubber baby toys by Oli & Carol however, made out of 100% natural rubber of the Havea tree, are the kind of vegetables he loves. Ever since he could hold objects in his little hands he’s been enthusiastically chewing on a watermelon, avocado or carrot. He really likes the sensory experience of the texture of the rubber in his mouth. It soothes his gums which can feel sore as his teeth are giving pressure underneath.
Oli & Carol natural rubber baby toys are easy to hold, fun to look at and can also be used in the bath. They are developed in one piece, with no holes, so no water can get inside, making them hygienic and safe. They come sweetly presented in a cardboard holder (no plastic!). Such a fun little baby or newborn gift!

Yes, I agree! I just love everything the ladies at Oli & Carol have done. Bram looks happy to be enjoying his rubber veggies 😉.
Hi Esther. Can you recommend any good books on weaning, with good advice and recipes? Or would you not bother buying a book? I don’t know where to begin with books on babies first food!
Hi Nicole,
When Sara was a little baby I bought Annabel Karmel’s ‘Baby and Toddler Meal Planner’ and it is still my go-to book for weaning. It is quite straightforward and easy to use and has some good recipe suggestions for the different stages. x
I just have to say, your baby is gorgeous! What a good looking boy!
Thanks Esther!
