Pretty building blocks from Hape Toys

blocks-5 blocks-9
Building blocks are perhaps the most basic and classic toy existing. It’s also the one toy I feel every child should own — a couple of blocks not only makes a great tower, but it also makes structures, houses and fences for all sorts of pretend play.

US based toy company Hape recently came out with a set of beautiful building blocks made out of solid beech wood. Every block in the set has one bright red side, making these blocks super cool and modern looking. With the launch of the blocks, Hape also launched their We Care We Share program: for every set of building blocks purchased, Hape is giving away a toy to an at-risk child in Afghanistan, Syria, Nepal, China or Zimbabwe — countries suffered from war, poverty, natural disasters, or lack of resources. Every set of blocks purchased contains one block with an unique 5-digit code, with which can be traced where in the world a child has received a new toy.

Ah, thanks Eva! You are right — Hape is originally a German company (although HQ is now based in the US). It really is such a nice program. And the blocks are so pretty! x
