The children’s travel journals turned into a book with Doodle Nest!

As I’ve mentioned before, each of our children kept a journal during our travels this year. They wrote in their journals at least once or twice a week, documenting each country and noting down memorable moments from each place we visited. Their journals are filled with notes, writings, doodles, drawings, small souvenirs and mementos from their travels. I have no doubt these journals will be treasured for the rest of their lives.

When we returned to London in August my friend Andrea, co-founder of Doodle Nest, reached out and suggested the idea of creating one of their custom art books with photographs from the children’s journals. I LOVED the idea!! The perfect way to celebrate all the artwork from this year’s wonderful adventure and consolidate it into one big book.

Andrea and Constanza from Doodle Nest popped by to pick up the children’s journals. They photographed the journals in their studio, compiled the best of the artwork and edited them into separate chapters for each child. In addition to children’s doodles and drawings, they asked me to send them a selection of photos from our travels, which they added to the pages of the book to further illustrate the travels (such a fun idea!).

We just received the book this week and it is even more wonderful than I had hoped! The kids were so happy to see all their illustrations in a beautiful, hardback book — I keep finding them sitting together with the book on their laps pointing out all of their favourite pages. We especially love that there are happy travel photos scattered throughout — just looking through the book makes me want to do the whole thing over again!! : )

p.s. We can’t wait to get our first Doodle Nest art book out of boxes in storage. It will be fun to look through that one again too!

I’m guessing you’ll be planning another family gap year in a few years, which babe number 5 can experience too!? Love the colourful book!
