Tucked away on a quiet street in Soho is the charming children’s boutique Les Petits Chapelais. Specializing in European (especially French) collections and American collections with European sensibilities, the shop presents an impressive range of clothing, toys, shoes, and accessories for newborn – 10 years in appealing displays that stretch from floor to ceiling. From special occasion wear to casual choices perfect for the playground, the selections have you covered, and many of the brands are difficult to find elsewhere in New York, making this independent shop unique. On a recent visit the sales staff was helpful but low-pressure and I was tempted by beautiful spring/summer pieces from Pom d’Api, Morley, Gold, Dagmar Daley, and April Showers. In the end, I chose a casual shirt and pair of shorts for my daughter, and in addition, one of the straw hats in the last photo. Hand-made by a small family workshop in Marche, Italy, it will be perfect for the hot summer days ahead. She’s barely taken it off since Sunday – a hit indeed!

Minetta ...

Sockerbit
We don't eat a lot of candy in our house (or at least not while our daughter is awake...shhh!), but I'll confess to having an abiding love for sour gummy candy. A small pouch of Sour Patch Kids can be picked up at any hour in any drug store or bodega, but a far better ...
