Harry by the Sea has been a favourite book in our family since Easton was a baby. In fact I was surprised to see that I’ve never properly mentioned it before (apart from a round-up of my boys’ favourite books here).
Marlow has recently discovered it, and she too is loving the funny story about Harry the dog at the beach and how he gets himself covered in seaweed and disguised as a sea monster. A sweet summertime story in the Harry the Dirty Dog
series which was originally written in the 1950s (hence the cool 1950’s illustrations).

p.s. Marlow’s overalls are from Muny and her bow hair clips are from Numi.

Oh man, that’s caused me SUCH a flashback, we had this when I was small. I remember the pictures so vividly!!
All three of my boys have loved the Harry series. Ravi’s favorite is the one where the family doesn’t recognize until after the bath, because he has returned dirty from adventure around the town. 🙂
Those overalls!
Yes, it’s my favorite of the four Harry books too .
My boys have grown out of the Harry books now, they are both reading their own chapter books, however I cant bear to pass these on. They are such wonderful stories! Emma x
I can’t believe I’ve discovered this book again. I read it as a child in the 70s and absolutely loved it. I wanted my three year old to read it but had completely forgotten the name. I’ve been searching for the last three years for it typing into search engines every possible dog’s name. So glad to have found it and it looks as good as I remember.
