Doodle Nest art books — the perfect way to preserve your children’s art

As part of the process of packing up our house I’ve come across all of the children’s art from the past ten years. I don’t save everything they make, but I do like to keep our favourite pieces, and of course I always keep the sweet love notes and cards. As a result, we have several big plastic Ikea boxes in our basement holding stacks and stacks of the children’s art.

But for what? Sometimes I wonder what the point is when they’re just down in the basement in a plastic box, hidden away for who knows how many years. We used to hang our favourite pieces in a gallery art wall in the hallway of our last house, but we took them all down when we moved and those too went into a storage. I needed to do something to preserve and display our favourite pieces, and that’s when I discovered Doodle Nest and their wonderful service.

Doodle Nest takes you children’s art and creates bespoke art books, collages, and gift cards for you to keep and treasure forever. All you have to do is gather up your favourite art and send it over to the team at Doodle Nest, and they do all the work to create your book (see photos below of all the art I sent over! I love getting this behind-the-scenes glimpse of founders, Andrea and Constanza, as they sort through it all).

Andrea and Constanza thought it would be fun to divide the book into chapters for each child, so they created a little profile page for each child with a photo and a self portrait. It is such a great way to view all the artwork on an individual basis, and I also love that they put the child’s age at the bottom of each piece, so that the kids know how old they were when they made each piece.

It really is such a beautiful book, and I’m so happy to have it.

Now… to find a special place to store it while we’re away for the next year… ! : )

Gosh that is just incredible. I’ve seen Doodle Nest before and heard friends talk about it, but I’ve never seen such a beautiful book like this one. Once we’re settled on our move, I’m going to sift through all the art work I’ve just piled into boxes and do the same. Thanks for sharing Courtney!! xx

This is such a timely post for me. We are back from an expat adventure and have finally got most things in the right places at home. The things which I am struggling with are the three IKEA boxes of artwork and precious notes which take up so much space. I knew there must be a good solution for my inability to design a digital album of them. Thanks, Courtney, for the inspiration!

Such a great idea! Love it!!! I am sure it is a fair price but unfortunately not one that most people can afford. Still love it. Looks so professional and lovely.

It looks great, but I am just trying to let go more. These days, I find my self trying to safe everything, from whatsapp conversations to emails, thousands of photos of nothing in particular and all things kids make. I tell myself, there is no need to hold on to all these things. I don’t have all the things I made in school as a kid anymore either. Enjoy it in the momen and then move on. Is what I am trying to do…

Sorry, this was not meant as a response, but as a separate comment. Anyway, taking scans to the print shop would be a cheaper option, maybe not as nice, but nice enough.

Oh my goodness, that is absolutely gorgeous. A true family heirloom. Emma

Such a good idea, we currently scan everything onto the PC but hadn’t yet figured out what we were going to do with it…thanks for the inspiration!

That is a great solution to the pile of beautiful art that lies in the attic waiting for our kids to grow up and take it with them. But omg – the price!
That does not fit in the ‘simple living’-imago your family has in my mind.. I think I might stick with the latest art on display in the hallway, and the rest in a box in the attic, waiting fot the future.

yeah, super cute but way too expensive. Take pictures of the artwork, and make your own picture book from a more inexpensive site like Blurb. Same outcome, but literally an 1/8 of the price!

I love the idea but the price! Please tell me they gifted the book to you 🙂

Such a beautiful product, but omg, why so expensive ? I might have invested in one at half the price, but £175 ? Ouch. It has made me think about doing this for myself though and not to be so lazy. Printers like Staples carry A2 scanners so maybe I’ll look into scanning them myself and then get them printed on giclee paper and get it bound professionally, all for a fraction of this price. I did this at college for many projects so it can be done reasonably.

This is just the best idea! I checked the website and it’s quite expensive but worth it if you’re curating the best pieces of your children’s art work!

I love this idea, such a great product, wish someone could do that with my own drawings from when I was a child. It would be great if the books could include some photos as well.
