This hairstyle is so sweet, and also a fast one once you get the hang of the technique. I like the crazy, messy look!
Have two elastic bands handy. Brush and part the hair. A messy parting is fine! Form a side pony tail with your left hand. With the other hand, pull the tail through the elastic band until halfway, so it loops. Don’t pull it through completely! Depending on the length of the hair, you can now secure the elastic band, or pull the hair through to form a second little loop.
Easy!!
And this final photo is one of my favourites ever from Ava. Isn’t Maud the most talented photographer?

These are great, thanks! I’m wondering, my daughter is 23 months. How young can you start doing these styles without worrying about her ripping it out and possibly putting the elastics etc in her mouth? I want to do a little styling, but am a little worried. Also, how do you manage doing a bun or whatever for a wriggling and/or resistant girl? Your girl looks so happy and relaxed. Did it take a while to ease into it?
Hi Susan, I’ve never worried much about my daughters ripping out the elastic bands, but maybe it depends on their character. I would say just try, and see how it goes? I started with piggy tails and as soon as I could little braids.
And yes — my girls are very used to me doing their hair, they just see it as part of the daily routine! x
I love these hair tutorials!
