A quick morning make-up solution

January 29, 2015

DayWear2 DayWear

With four children to get ready in the morning for their school and daycare, lunch boxes to prepare, gym bags to collect, my mornings are a bit hectic to say the very least.  Most of the time my husband drops the kids off to school on his way to work (all of them piled up on the bakfiets!), but when I do the school run, there’s not much time (like none) to apply any make-up before we run out the door. Enter Estée Lauder Daywear Sheer Tint Release Moisturiser, a one step morning solution I swear by. If there’s no time for anything else, this cream will make my skin look smoother and more radiant. It works a little like magic — it goes on without colour, but when you apply it the tint and glow will magically appear on your skin! That, and some lip balm, leaves me feeling just that little bit more pulled together. In less than ten seconds.

As always, I’m very curious to find out about great, easy-to-use beauty products that have a nice, natural effect. Please share your favourites?

xxx Esther

Mine is Origins Vitazing moisturizer/tint! It helped a lot when the middle trimester glow refused to appear :o)

Sounds great! We all need a bit of glow sometimes 😉 .

Laura mercier tinted moisturiser is a wonder product. It’s quite dry though so I mix with current favourite moisturiser which is Nuxe Creme Fraiche which is also wonderful! (Gwyenth Paltrow uses the nuxe and it does make you glow!). Right now I swear by nuxe products for face, Neal’s yard for body and aveda for hair. Another wonder product is clarins beauty flash balm. Love posts like these!

I also love those 4 brands you just mentioned! Will look into the specific products (crème fraîche for the face sounds heavenly) — thank you!

Yes, I can’t live without this Estee Lauder cream too. My life-saver 😉
I also love the lipbalm by Clarins ‘Eclat Minute Embellisseur Lèvres’ , it tastes soooo good and they have lovely (natural) colors.

Black Rose Cream Mask by Sisley. You put it on before make up or just go without make up and you get that glowing, dewy look you get when on holiday. Expensive, but a little goes a long way. It’s like magic!

I might invest in this. Sisley is very very expensive, but I agree with you that it always lasts for so long!

I try don’t use makeup. I’m on that new trend – “no makeup” but it really means without any on my face. Even on some events or when I go out in the evening. I have problem skin so I take a lot care to look good. I love to use Apivita care line http://www.apivita.com/ but usually use the french pharmacy brands – Avene, Bioderma, Galenik, Nuxe etc.. Right now I choose this moisture cream http://www.nuxe.com/en/creme-prodigieuse-enrichie-18/creme-prodigieuse but for oily skin , eye cream http://skincode.com/blog/category/skincode-essentials/eye-care/ and these lip balms http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/shiseido-benefiance-full-correction-lip-treatment/2935274 or http://www.rodial.co.uk/our-ranges/stemcell-super-food/stemcell-super-food-glam-balm-lip ; In my pocket- EOS lip balms.

I’ve just started using clinque’s CC cream after being on the hunt for a 5 second face miracle fixer. Just the right amount of moisture and coverage for a dewy natural look that’s not shiny or caked. Good to have more tips & recommendations though! Great post thanks Esther.

I also love this product, especially as it has SPF in it too! I have recently discovered their BB Daywear cream which I use during the winter as it gives a bit more coverage than this one.

When I was in my 20s I had a very stylish older friend who resolutely told me: “After your 30th birthday you just cannot go out without makeup”. I laughed but I now know what she meant. Looking natural and put together actually requires you to sleep a lot (and this means letting go of all that you had planned to do in the evening), to be happy and to take time for makeup and hair in the morning. I’ll have a look at the cream but I have recently bough a set of Bobbi Brown concealer, powder, liquid eyeliner, mascara and pale lipstick. They are so good. I though this ritual would take ages but it actually takes me 5min to apply everything.

Thanks for the tip, there’s not a lot of style advice for mamas in their late 30s/early 40s. I think it is an age when many of us want to look cool, young and natural but don’t have the time to think and actually do it. With all resources devoted to the kids it is easy to end up trapped in old clothes or to abandon oneself to fashion trends for younger and older women.

I agree! It’s exactly like that. We’ll try to give more tips like these (even though I’m equally guilty to abandon myself!)
