Throwbeds from Hedgehouse
At the start of the summer a friend of mine in the US wrote to tell me about the beautiful throwbeds from a brand called Hedgehouse. I had never heard of this brand before, but one glance at the website and I was obsessed! The towels, the pillows... and most of all, the throwbeds! How perfect ...

The flap between my girls' rooms
Renovating a flat has been a fun, if a bit stressful event in my life. I had no idea how all consuming it was going to be. I spent nights pinning on Pinterest, researching flats in every corner of the world, searching for inspiration and checking out every possible Ikea hack there was in the ...

Emily Hogarth's beautiful papercuts
I have followed Emily Hogarth and her adorable family on Instagram for the past couple years and have always loved the snippets I've seen of her beautiful papercut creations in her feed. So I was so excited when she got in touch last year and offered to create a custom papercut piece for us based on our travels. ...

Tips for decorating a teen girl's bedroom from Bodie and Fou
My friend Karine from Bodie and Fou got in touch last week to share her recent before-and-after renovation project of her daughter, Mila's bedroom. Mila is the same age as my eldest (and she's also really into surfing!) so it's always interesting for me to see the girl version of twelve years old. (I often marvel ...

Our Home Renovation, part one
When I asked recently for blog post suggestions, I was so flattered to receive questions about our home renovation. It's centre of my mind at the moment, so it's quite an easy topic for me to write about. And while I find it completely overwhelming -- all the details and decisions to make -- I ...

Our kitchen: design details, paint colours and renovation info
After sharing the renovation details of our bathroom, many of you asked for the same information for our kitchen, so I thought I'd dedicate a post to our kitchen renovation and the design decisions we made. Designing our kitchen was one of my favourite parts about our renovation. Because we've designed a kitchen before -- ...

My Worm Farm
I was brought up in Germany, so recycling is in my DNA. We had at least 4 different bins in front of our house, one for general trash, one for plastic and paper, one for glass and one for organics. It was a massive shock when I moved to Paris as recycling is way, way ...

Studio in our garden -- some inspiration and ideas
We're building a little studio in our back yard -- a space for a home office, and a place for guests to stay when they come to visit! It's going to be so nice to have that bit of extra space (and to finally have a workspace and desk instead of using our dining table!). I ...

We had many hopes for our year of world travel. We hoped for a slower pace of life. We hoped for more time with our kids. We hoped to learn more about our world and to return as changed people. This week we arrived back in London. For thirteen years we have called this city ...

I love this Maria — you are so creative!! Thinking outside the box — I love it. And loving the results as well. xxx
What a lovely idea!
It makes it feel like you’re inside one of those little tents made of quilts, draped over the dining room chairs, that we used to make as kids.
Love this!
Babies spend so much of their time lying on their backs staring up at the ceiling… so how nice for them to have something nice to look at!! xxx
