My almost 3½-year-old is having an increasingly hard time going to sleep without a light at night. We have the turtle that has glowing stars on its back but it automatically shuts off after 45 minutes and we often get early morning requests to “turn turtle on please!” which can get a bit tiresome. so now I’m on the hunt for the perfect night light — harder than you might imagine! For now, it’s a toss up between the modern jonathan adler elephant and the fairy house (my daughter is obsessed with elephants and fairies) but I’m also toying with the idea of using a sun jar instead! Do you have any favorites?

I recognise what you’re saying — our son Pim also requests a nightlight on. We have ours on a timer…
I love all of your suggestions! What I also love, are those old-fashioned globes with a light in them. They work wonders as a nightlight (ask Pim)! xxx
Have you tried White Rabbit? I particularly like the retro toadstools -I REALLY wanted one as a child and was never given one -not sure why! Perhaps now I’m a grownup I should sell them in my webshop – and keep one for myself! http://www.whiterabbitengland.com/prod_list.asp?catid=40&Name=Nightlights
I have used this nightlight for my daughter from birth. It looks lovely and it produces a nice soft glow which “keeps the monsters away”.

I love them all! Am thinking about getting this one called my pet lamp for my son when he grows up-

I like the portable ones from Pabobo as they don’t get hot, you can either leave them on all night or turn them off when you check on the kids, and they can turn them back on with just a touch/push to the bottom
Such great ideas. Thanks mamas!!
The elephant! Definitely the elephant!
