Monkey and Me

This weekend I started to reorganise my girls room at bit. They have so many toys and books that they have now grown out of. I completely understand Esther’s feelings in her recent post — I do feel slightly melancholic that all of these well-loved items are being packed away. Though I fair a lot better than the girls, who are not willing to separate themselves from anything!

We have rediscovered a few long forgotten treasures, one of them being the lovely book: Monkey and Me by Emily Gravett. It’s the story of a little girl who takes her monkey with her to the zoo and they go to look at the animals. It is very simple,  charming and beautifully illustrated. It is perfect for kids starting to discover animals. Violette knew this book by heart before she could form whole sentences… maybe I will just keep this book for a little while longer!

My 22 month old adores this book! So simple but brilliant. We constantly sing along to this, and even add our own animals to the story. A definite keeper 🙂

I could not agree more! My daughter (almost 3) sits in her room repeating the words (cannot read yet, but I think she too has memorized it)! Another great book by Emily Gravett
is The Odd Egg (available in French as well, Drôle d’ Oeuf). And just perfect for Spring.

For some reason, Cheerios boxes were giving this book for free inside the box! If you are in the US, you may still find them. My little one looks at it all the time!
