Twinkle Toes

November 25, 2010

I am seriously risking my reputation here by writing about this obscenely tacky sneaker… but let’s face it, kids love this stuff!!!!  These “Twinkle Toe” sneakers are super popular here in NYC and all the little girls I know are totally obsessed.  Comfortable as they are stylish (ah-hem) these are not the boring old light-up shoes where you just get a flash in the heel. Oh no. In THIS particular sneaker the entire front of this glitters like a diamond encrusted castle.  They add an element of flair to any outfit and could actually serve as a life saving beacon in the event of a black-out.  They come in a variety of colors (white, purple, pink) and styles (lace up, velcro) and they are available on my favorite website Zappos. Trust me, just suck it up, your kids will absolutely love them!

not for me this time…well, maybe if my daughter REALLY loves these sneakers…maybe?

I think they are cool in the end, the peace sign…the flowers… new-millenium-hippie!
I guess that if the rest of the outfit is not too colourful they could really look good!

Wait a second, they actually light up on the sides?! No wonder kids are going crazy for them…

No doubt about it, my girl will love this. I can imagine that when she sees this she would not stop until I buy a pair.

just had a look at the Zappos website. It rocks! I love the cool video descriptions. Have you seen the cowboys boot with lights on? OMG…

hideous. absolutely hideous, but somehow in a really cool must-have way.

I can relate so much to the fact that they are so tacky, but my girl would LOVE to have them!! We’ve been having these incredible fights about what to wear.. I say dark, she says pink with Hello Kitty.
Maybe if I get her these shoes I could trade clothes for shoes!…

After much head butting, I have resolved not to take myself too seriously and let my daughter have her way even if it is hideous. It’s so not worth fighting over fashion! She would absolutely love these!
