Can you believe we have less than 6 weeks until Christmas? Where did this year go? Suddenly it’s time to start thinking about holiday gifts! So… with the countdown to Christmas now on, we thought it would be a good idea to do a series on our kids’ favourite toys — the toys they play with every day, the toys that have lasted years and years, the ones they always go back to despite receiving something new…
So, if I had to pick one toy from my kids’ playroom, their absolute favourite toy of all time, it would have to be their collection of Schleich Animals . My boys take their Schleich animals with them into the bath, into their beds, to school in their coat pocket, to the park, to the beach, etc. etc. We always have at least a couple animals with us at all times, be it a dinosaur , a sea creature , or a farm animal …

Oh my kids love their Schleich (good German brand) animals too. The only thing I find hard is keeping them together – they are always dotted all over the place – a couple in the car, pocket, bag, lunch-box, bedroom, living room, buggy – so we very rarely have the whole zoo together to play with!
My son seems to have a new favourite on a roughly fortnightly rotation! Today it’s a pink piggy (actually a bath toy) that he discovered yesterday while out shopping for shoes and a coat. Doubtless within a couple of weeks it will have been abandoned or will possibly have become ‘very horrible’ or ‘yucky’, his current favourite adjectives.
and the best thing: they make a great -normal priced- birthday gift! 🙂 favourite here as well!
why is it that they like to take the favourite out wherever they go? We were always out with Thomas the Tank engine for years!
Yes, days are so fast.. and we are celebrating our son 2nd christmas experience..
Those look so cute in kids rooms as well;) I keep seeing these in baby boutiques, such as Bonpoint! Love the simplicity.
I’m so glad you’ve said this! I’ve been trying to convince my husband that we should tell family that keeps asking what to get the boys for xmas some schleich animals would be good – as they are easy to travel with and we have to get in a plane rather than car to visit family. However, despite being German, he says they are for girls?? glad to here your boys enjoy them – I’ll be sure to put it on the letter to santa. 🙂
We have a whole slew of Schliech animals from dinosaurs to farm animals to forest animals to ocean animals. They were much more popular a year or two back with my son, who is now 4.5. Right now he is an aspiring architect, this is what he tells everyone that he wants to be when he grows up. So Legos, blocks, wedgits, boxes ,and anything else that he can get his hands on to build things, are what is really popular in our home.
for my 5 year old son, it’s lego, lego and more lego…His Schleich animals (mostly farm animals) are taken over by his lil sister (21 month old), she takes them everywhere too (car, high chair, bedroom, playroom…everywhere!). She is also not letting go of her first baby doll Corolle!
My kids especially like the horses, they build meadows for them and mix them with the lego and playmobil horses… And an old friend has a wooden boat and pairs of all the animals, it’s Noah’s ark, so pretty…
Schleich animals are favourite with my 3 kids too. Schleich has also brought out a fantasy world range with various mythical creatures such as a pegasus, unicorns and elves which my girls adore.
