I really enjoy writing for Babyccino Kids. My favourite bit is reading the comments people leave on my posts — it is so great to have a dialogue with like-minded mums and dads. Back in February I wrote about a great book I’d found, Sparkle & Spin. Tina left a comment and it was clear to me this was a lady with a similar book-obsession. Not only had she already discovered Sparkle & Spin (and the other books written by the same authors), but she also had some suggestions of other books I may like.
Now I don’t need much persuading to order a few books on Amazon so I ordered Tina’s suggestions and of course they were all fabulous, but my particular favourite was A Balloon for Blunderbuss.
An imaginative tale of exchange and how something tiny can grow into a big dream. Written by poet Alastair Reid and illustrated by world-renowned graphic designer, Bob Gill, it is a truly beautiful book and we all love reading it here in this house. So thank you Tina!
(Available from the Babyccino Kids Bookstore — both UK and US.)

No thanks needed…from one kid book lover to another. I am so glad you liked it! My tot loves it too!
I was just saying today that I need to order more books, so if you have any suggestions for me, let me know!
Best,
Tina
P.S. Did you already have “The Little House’? I know it was out of print for awhile, but it is truly wonderful!
Hi Tina
I love The Little House – I got a new copy through one of the Amazon merchants (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Little-House-Virginia-Lee-Burton/dp/039525938X/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpt_3) and loved it so much I went back to order Katy and the Big Snow (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Katy-Big-Snow-Virginia-Burton/dp/1845075021/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b) and Maybelle The Cable Car (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Maybelle-Cable-Car-Virginia-Burton/dp/0395840031/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpt_5) – both by Virginia Lee Burton and both fabulous! I’m sure you will have done this already but take a look at the Babyccino bookshop – they are basically some of all of our favourites that you can click through to buy from Amazon. Have fun book-browsing! Mo. x
Have you read An awesome book by Dallas Clayton? veryawesomeworld.com
He published the book on his own and for every copy purchased he gives one away, it is a very impressive success story and a very touching book, I won’t lie I teared up the first time I read it.
Isn’t it the most amazing book and story! Esther wrote about it a while back (https://babyccinokids.com/2008/12/11/dream-big/) and I immediately ordered a few copies as I just knew it would be the perfect present for friends with new babies. I gave it to a friend of mine who is currently writing his first children’s book (that sounds so so so exciting I can’t wait to read it) and he was also blown away with it – its always a good sign to impress a fellow author I think.
the funny thing about the Balloon book is that contrary to expectations my kid adores it – it is one of his favourites. in a similar vein are the OH! books with the images that fold out into the unexpected. I often think the artsy books satisfy me and not him, but a few of them work for us both. k.
