Phil and Ted’s MeToo

metoo.jpgEsther wrote about the Phil and Ted MeToo portable chair ages and ages ago. It is a little chair you can clamp onto a table, so that you can easily have your child sitting at the table with you wherever you are.

I inherited one yesterday and within 24 hours I have already used it 3 times. Of all the children’s gadgets I have, this is, without a doubt, the best. Especially here in Paris where it is almost impossible to find highchairs in restaurants! It is incredibly light and compact (I just keep it at the bottom of my stroller) and whenever I need it, we just clamp it onto any table. Our little one is so much happier that she hasn’t been left in the buggy and is sitting high up as part of the gang.

This is going to be my number one present for new parents from now on!  Available through Amazon (UK or US).

One of the best baby products around, in my opinion!

They really are the best! So handy, so easy to use, so cool.
Great for traveling, great for restaurants, great for the garden (if you don’t want to lug out the highchair, you can just clip it onto the picnic table!), great for so many occasions!

Hmmm .. What is the weight capacity on this?? I think it looks totally awesome – just not sure how much “time” I have left to be able to use. it

I agree – I have 4 kids 5&under and this is my favourite product (after the miracle blanket, which is more for newborns). It holds up to 40 pounds or 18kg, and I can tell you that my kids have put it to the test. Not all of these seats are as well-made – we had one from Jacadi before we got our Me Too and it ripped apart at the seams after limited use. Our Me Too has stood up to two toddlers, and appears to be up to the task of lasting through its next little customer. FYI, they are introducing a new product called the “Lobster” that should be available in late summer, and if you use this chair “on the go”, it is supposed to have easier attach/detach features (but I think perhaps doesn’t accommodate quite the same weight as the MeToo). Just wanted to chime in on what I think is a great product!

Just a note of caution – if you have a very active (ie: squirmy) child, this may not be the best for you. I’ve known more than 1 person whose child was well within the weight limit (around 20 lbs) that loosened the clamp due to movement and fell onto hard floors. Everyone’s OK, but it makes me a little leery of any clamping chair….

I think it’s a great product, but when I enquired why it ws not for sale in italy somebody told me that it did not pass some safety tests…
but it sounds kind of weird given that EU regulation must be the same throughout!

I’ve wanted one of these for awhile now!! How handy it would be!

Thanks for mention that, Christine. It has never occurred to me that a child could loosen the clamps. I will pay extra care at making sure that the clamps are tightened securely on our chair. To be honest, my daughter is so obsessed with food, she will sit still in every chair as long as she has something to chew on!
