I must admit that although I’m pretty happy when I can buy organic I am not normally a person that gives up too much comfort to do it green. These days I also have the feeling that some businesses have jumped on the organic train without really believing in it — it just seems a profitable option with all the well-off families needing to clean their conscience a bit and cancel their carbon emissions.
I got the totally opposite feeling when I discovered speesees! Not only do they produce fun clothing with organic cotton, natural dyes, pvc-free prints and nickel-free snaps but they also have manufacturers who are certified for decent working conditions.  A great line of good-quality kiddie basics in fun colors!

The mind behind speesees, Rachel Pearson, is an ‘organic’ pioneer, having been brought up in the ’70s by very conscious parents who, against the mainstream, never fed her junk food and didn’t have a television. These things now seem pretty standard to you and me, but back then we all know it was unusual.
The name of the company has a fun origin as well.  On the website she explains that the it was “named s-p-e-e-s-e-e-s because it’s the way a baby might spell ‘species’ if a baby could spell.  Speesees pays homage to the animal, plant, + human species on our planet”.
It’s a truly charming idea, and I love their meaningful motto “we’re in this together”.
So true.
