KinderkookcaféOn the edge of the Vondelpark in Amsterdam there is a wonderful place to bring your kids: the Kinderkookcafé (Childrens’ Cooking Café). The fact that it is a café is good news for the parents – they can meet up and have a cup of coffee and a simple snack like a sandwich, soup or apple-pie.

The good news for the kids is that while their parents are catching up and drinking coffees, they can ‘cook’!
They have a choice of:

  • Making pizza
  • Decorate cookies / cup cakes
  • Making sausage animals
  • Making sandwich faces
  • Making carrot or cucumber puzzles

KinderkokThere are also plenty of toys and books around, and a lovely outdoor area to sit and play.
For all ages, open daily from 10AM to 5PM. Mini chairs, high chairs, kiddies toilets and baby changing facilities are available. Also great for birthday parties (ages 5 years and up).

Wow, how cool, I’m sure my 4 year old would love to visit that cafe, and maybe, just maybe I might get a chance to speak to my girlfriends for more than 5 minutes!

That place looks amazing, honestly I’d love to go there. When we’re visiting parks I quite often say “the only thing this park is missing is coffee”. If we get back to Amsterdam soon you have given the most amazing travel notes.

Truly kid friendly cafes are not that common here in Melbourne. Some give you a high chair, have some crayons on a table etc, but none give a complete package for kids and it would be such a drawcard – it’s one of my dreams, to set one up, maybe one day.

Such a good idea. There should be a cafe like this in any major town. All parents want to have a coffee in peace occasionally and it sounds like so much fun for the kids!
