London's Transport Museum
I recently took my kids to the London Transport Museum and was really, really impressed, both with the displays and with the hands-on children's activities.  The museum, which gives a very detailed history of London's public transportation, is located in Covent Garden, right in the piazza. The museum takes you through time and shows you ...

Fun for kids in Paris

Babyccino
My daughter has known the meaning of a good babyccino since she was able to hold a spoon. I have known the meaning of a good babyccino since I discovered that it could keep a toddler entertained for at least 10 minutes at a lunch table. If one orders a second one (disregarding the occasional ...

Mommy makeover? Not my cup of tea.
During the summer, while I was halfway through pregnancy #2, I was already thinking about the months and months it would take me to regain my already less than perfect figure after the birth. It's then that I started joking with my husband that what I wanted this time as a gift, instead of a diamond ...

Sophie la Girafe
I first discovered Sophie the Giraffe at Esther's house when we first met.  We both had 6-month-old babies who loved putting anything in their mouths. Esther had a rubber giraffe that squeaked when you squeezed it.  Both our babies loved it; it was one of their favorite toys.   But, at that point, neither of us knew she was called "Sophie." It ...

Sinterklaas -- A Dutch Tradition
Here in the low-lands, we have a funny holiday called Sinterklaas. If you're in the Netherlands now, or planning to visit around the 5th of December, you most propably will be seeing some strangely dressed up people on the streets... More country differences: caring for the umbilical stump.
My #1 was born in London, and on discharge from the hospital I was told to bathe the baby regularly and that the stump would fall off pretty soon. That's it, simple and practical. Then the midwife who came to our home a couple of times checked on it. #2 was born last week in Milan, and stumps ...

Sinterklaas- A Dutch Tradition
Here in the low-lands, we have a funny holiday called Sinterklaas. I know I've been trying to explain the concept to you before, but I thought I'd give it one more try. H&M School Uniform
When my toddler started nursery school this fall (and came home covered in paint, glue, mud, food, etc.), I decided that his wardrobe needed a redress. Cashmere jumpers are just not ideal- (who has time to hand-wash anymore)?? Actually, let's face it- anything even slightly expensive is NOT a good idea. The cheaper, the better. ...

I've carried 2 babies around London in this sling, and every time I used it at least three people would come up to me to inquire what sort of sling this was and where I got it. The inquiries were, of course, followed by "oohs" and "aahs"; all babies are cute, but in this sling ...

Italians invented espresso and cappuccino. Fantastic! Humanity will be grateful forever. Then we stopped there. Why is it that every other country capitalized on our inventions, and now have more choices when getting a hot drink than the average Italian could ever dream of? Hi guys! Here Bethie and I are showing you how to prepare a super easy dish that your family will love -- a video we bring to you in cooperation with Abel & Cole, deliverer of fabulous food boxes filled to the brim with organic freshness! Here's the list of ingredients: a royal 1 tbsp of olive oil 1 butternut squash 1 red onion 2 red peppers 2 garlic cloves 4 vine tomatoes 150g quinoa sea salt & freshly ground pepper 300 ml vegetable stock 2 tbsp red wine vinegar 25g raisins 80g black olives And for the garnish: a handful of chervil feta (optional) Directions: Peel your butternut squash. Cut in half and scoop out the seeds. Chop the flesh into 1cm chunks. Peel and cut the onion into thick slices. Cut the pepper in half and scoop out the seeds and white pith. Chop into bitesized pieces. Peel and thinly slice the garlic. Roughly chop the tomatoes. Rinse the quinoa under cold water to remove any bitterness. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large heavy based pan. Tip in all the veg and quinoa. Pour in the veg stock and the red wine vinegar. Add the raisins and the olives. Season with salt and pepper. Pop on a lid and cook for 30-40 mins until the squash is soft and the sauce thick. Stir every now and then during cooking. Scatter over the chervil (or flat leaf parsley leaves) and serve in warm bowls. Top with crumbled feta if you like! A super colourful, super easy and super delicious dish for taste buds of all ages! Bon appétit!
