At the moment, I am on the lookout for a good looking world map to hang up in our flat. We have family and friends spread all over the world and my 5-year-old, Coco, is trying to understand where everyone is. But the main reason is that I have a huge love for maps — they make me dream and plan lots of adventures. About 99% of those plans stay in my head, but I have the best time planning anyway.
So far I have found this lovely map by Famille Summerbelle which Courtney blogged about a while ago and this great design by Oliver Jeffers. I already have a set of 1950’s French school maps which I love (though though they are not very accurate anymore). If anyone has any other suggestions, do let me know!

I love all of these maps. Never knew world maps would be so expensive though! But it’s a lovely and educative decoration for a room I find… (And it’s true, my kids are constantly confused about topography — at the end of the street they ask if they’re still in the Netherlands!)
My 5 year old son is obsessed with countries and flags. Father Christmas bought him a cool magnetic map which he can take apart and reassemble from Great Little Trading Company.
Thanks for all the tips, Sally, I especially LOVE the Telegram World Maps. They are pricey but really lovely.
The IKEA one is big but our sons favourite for years. We look at it every nigt contemplating where we´ve been and where we want to go next
There is a danish artist who has made a world map from topography that is very beautiful. You can find it on facebook under The World. Her name is Sisse Falkonberg Jonsen.
