Maurice Sendak Nutshell Library

I discovered this sweet little boxed set of Maurice Sendak books on the the Misha and Puff blog the other day, and I ordered it immediately.  So cute! The set consists of four different books, all so silly and fun and with cute rhyming texts. We are in love with the sweet little stories! And the illustrations are just adorable (my 3-year-old has been taking them to bed with her even though she can’t yet read). It’s available from Amazon (UK and US ).

We have these, too, and are equally adored by my 4 yr old and 2 year old kids. Unfortunately, we lost one of them and the covers on those left are now all torn from too much loving. All the wear and tear just prove how much they are enjoyed though.

Oh my goodness! I think I had these when I was little! They’re officially on my wish list for Charlotte! Thanks for reminding me of them!

I love these! Similarly scaled and adorable is The Little Fur Family with a furry cover.

These are my favorite! I remember them vividly from grade school & bought them immediately for my kiddo. If you are interested, look up the soundtrack by Carol King called, Really Rosie. There are songs with all the book’s words as lyrics & kiddos can follow along. :) It’s really fun!

Hi Courtney,

I have an off topic question if you don’t mind. I have been searching all over the internet in the last couple of days trying to decide whether or not to go with a statuary calacatta marble countertop in our kitchen. Mostly people advise against it ( especially if you cook a lot and have children) but than i read another article that says if you seal it properly you wont have any issues. I admire the look and i really dont mind a little wear but i don’t want to worry about putting a wineglass on my counter…

Do you have any problems with yours?

Thank you so much

Dear Beata,
We also have marble in our kitchen which looks just like this… and I really love it. Yes, you have to be a bit careful with lemon juice because it can leave marks…. and it does dent and scrape sort of easily… but I love the look of it so much that it doesn’t bother me. And even the lemon juice stains are not so noticeable. xx
