Sheepskin baby booties on my desk…

These little sheepskin baby booties have been living on my desk (a.k.a. our dining table) for the last few weeks, and every now and then I just have to pick them up and admire them. So tiny! I’m getting excited about the fact that I’m going to have a fall/winter baby for the first time. Like Courtney, all the other times I had spring/summer babies — now we have to prepare to dress a baby through the cold season. I’ve started knitting tiny woollen baby outfits — what a lovely way to prepare for the cosy months ahead of us! Did you have summer or winter babies? Do you have preferences?
(Booties are handmade in New Zealand by Babies in Sheep’s Clothing, personalised notebook is from Sloane Stationary, both available through Babatude Boutique.)

I myself am a summer baby and mine are also summer/spring babies. I love the fact it is warm enough that you don’t worry to much about them overheating or being to cold. However i have found that spring babies e.g. March seems to be the best all round. In the uk the weather is often warm, not to cold or hot and it seems to be the best time for a child to have their birthday as they are not really young or old in the year, they are in the middle which means well with mine anyway they are at just the right stage when it is time to start school etc. Both my sibling were september babies and they always moaned about having there birthdays just as they were going back to school, and they always had all the things they wanted for their birthday so when it came to christmas there wasn’t many presents they wanted. Whereas with my birthday in may i had birthdays in the summer so often parties where in the park and i always had the summer holidays not far after my birthday to play with my presents. There is no perfect time to have a baby but some seasons just suit some families better than others. It does seem as well that women have seasons as most people i know have had all there children in the same season.
You’re right! Spring birthdays are great. I’m an October girl myself, so I’m quite happy about the fact that somebody will ‘join’ my time of year, but I must agree that having a baby in spring is so easy… But we will see — I must admit I’m enjoying the knitting for my baby so far!

I had both my children in winter. I love that it was a great time to snuggle in and nest with them, cocooning ourselves in layers and love, but as they grow older, the downside of bad weather for birthday parties is becoming evident!
