Enzo Mari’s Fable Game

We’re loving these illustrations by the famous Enzo Marni. They’re part of a series of six double-sided cards forming ‘The Fable Game‘. The cards (depicting 45 animals and a few random objects) slot together to create different scenes, encouraging ‘the reader’ to create his own stories over and over again. It was first published in 1965, but is still incredibly modern; it is obviously one of those games (or is it a book?) that outlives generations…
I got ours through cool new Dutch lifestyle shop fam.store*.

I’ve never seen these before. What a cool idea and, as you say, what wonderful illustrations.
