Hi Rosemary -- Wow! That's amazing! I've never seen another one of those sewing machines. I inherited mine from my mum, who on her turn inherited it from my grandmother. I love it -- it's the best machine, nice and heavy, and cool looking I think! Sorry, I have no clue about spare parts -- I should probably have mine serviced soon, I've never done that yet! If I do I'll ask the people about spare parts.
Thanks for your comment and sweet words, en ook voor jou een fijne dag. xxx

very very cute idea.... My heart skipped a beat when I saw just this little bit of your machine.... You DO have a Singer 316G
I have one also.

It is wonderful to see someone else with this amazing old machine.
Hey, let me know if you can find me a cover plate/throat plate, for the 316G. Mine needs to be replaced and I can NOT find anyone here in the US that has this spare part!. It is 173089

I love your blog! You are amazing -> heb een prachtige dag

Yes, that's what I thought too! You can still use magazines for around it.

What about using this for a Christmas Calendar? Make one bag for every day and fill it with whatever you want. Write the day on it and hang it up with a nice ribbon.
Cheers from Sweetzerland

Hi realworldmama,
If you're concerned about this, you can always use plain paper for the same principle, or use wrapped candy or something.
