Yesterday I got home late from a day in the park to a pile of seemingly boring bills on the floor. However, there hiding in the pile was a hand-written, slightly bulging envelope (oh! how I love real post). There inside was a little gift from my friend Marisa, this gorgeous hand-made key-ring with a picture of my son on one side and my daughter on the other. I was so moved to receive something from a friend in the post but also how lovely to have such a personalised gift.
Marisa is one of those endlessly talented people who seems to be able to turn her hand to anything. She is actually a Doctor of Finance by profession but she recently gave up the world of economics to concentrate on the charity she has set up in Germany, Helene’s Helfer. She is also a keen (and brilliant) crafter. Whenever I see her she has cool new little accesories (bits and bobs bags, notebook covers, key-rings) all which she has made. After endless requests from friends to make them things, Marisa has finally bowed to public demand and started to sell some of her ‘favourites’.
She has just launched her Etsy shop, Engelenchen, selling her personalised i-pod/phone covers & key-rings. Made using trendy felt in a colour of your choice and with 2 of your personalised pictures sewn on. She plans to add some more of her personalised products to the shop soon and is open for new suggestions to try.
I have already ordered a key-ring for my mum for Christmas — I always give grandparents something personalised from the kids and I know this will go down a treat (far better then the painted bowls and plates they got last year – which bearing in mind my children were nearly 3 and nearly 1 last Christmas, basically means just brown splogy crockery!)
