The Tiger Who Came for Tea
July 16, 2009
The Tiger Who Came for Tea is an old classic — I am sure I read it when I was a child — and my kids love it. It must have something to do with a nonsensical story being told as if it made complete sense.
Little Sophie and her mother are sitting down for tea and buns (makes me feel nostalgic for four o’clock tea at my grandparent’s house) when a tiger knocks on the door and invites himself over for tea as he is really, really hungry. He proceeds to eat all the food in the house. The book is really sweet and charmingly old-fashioned. I am really enjoying the retro revival at the moment and this book fits right in.
