Make your own Kazoo!
March 6, 2008
Do you know this trick? My mom used to make these for us all the time. They were called “Doot-Da-Doos” (you know, like a trumpet’s sound). We loved them — we looked forward to an empty paper-towel roll with great enthusiasm! And now my kids love them too.
Sooo easy to make. You just need a paper-towel or toilet paper roll, some parchment paper and a rubber band. When you sing/hum into the roll (or say ‘doot-da-doo’) the sounds vibrate against the parchment paper and a buzzing sound is created. (You can also have your kids decorate their kazoo with crayons or stamps if you want a bigger project.)
Give it a go — it’ll keep your kids entertained for a good ten minutes while you’re cooking their dinner…
