I just got back from a lunch date with a girlfriend… We drank wine, ate mussels and squid, felt very stylish and enjoyed ourselves immensely! Surely, the kids must not have been there, right? Wrong. They came too, and it was still lovely and enjoyable! (That never happens).
Why? We went to Villandry, the gorgeous gourmet food-shop and restaurant on Great Portland Street in central London. Stylish décor, buzzing ambience, great food, charming staff…and VERY kid-friendly. (They even have a “paint your own ice cream” dessert plate for kids, complete with paint brush and “paints” (chocolate, strawberry and white chocolate sauces).
Villandry’s impressive kid’s menu includes freshly squeezed juices, strips of chicken breast with courgette chips, lemon sole with chips and peas, mini hamburger, macaroni and cheese– all recipes from famous kiddie-food chef, Annabel Karmel. There is also a “tiny people” menu with mashed or puréed foods–perfect for babies!
I have always been a huge fan of Villandry (always fun to sit at the bar or stop in for some yummy take-away food), but now that I have just accomplished the impossible–dining in-style WITH children and coming home happy–I am really very impressed. And I promise, it’s not just the buzz from the wine…
