Honey Oat Biscuits

honey oat cookiesMy friend Stephanie made me these cookies a while ago (like last year), and even though they were AMAZING and I asked her for the recipe immediately, I only today made them for the first time. And they were AMAZING (ask my kids and husband!), and very easy to make!

Here’s the recipe:

-125g butter
-1/2 cup/125g sugar
-2 tablespoons honey
-1 cup/125g flour
-1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 cups rolled oats

Cream butter, sugar and honey together until pale. Sift flour, baking powder and cinnamon together. Add sifted ingredients and rolled oats to creamed mixture, stirring well. Roll tablespoon of mixture into balls. Place on greased oven tray. Flatten with the use of a floured fork and bake at 180 C (360 F) for 15 minutes or until golden. YUM!

Was hosting a playgroup at the park yesterday so decided to make the cookies as a treat! Everyone loved them! Got a lot of compliments. Was happy as it was the 1st time I baked cookies (am a cake person usually)! Thank you again for posting the recipe.

How many grams is 1 1/2 cups of oats please?

9. Esther | May 18, 2010 | Reply

1 1/2 cups oats is roughly 135 grams, or at least that’s what I’ve found on Google. Enjoy!

Thanks. In the end I only had 100g so that had to do! I made them this morning and they are so good!

but i dont understand your measurements, as if you say 1/2 a cup of flour is 125g – how can 1 1/2 cup of oats be 135g … im confused.. please help

thanks

I think it has to do with the fact that flour is more dense…

Susie, I had exactly the same issue and actually made them thinking oats would be 125g x 3 so 375g, they tasted great though were extremely dry and cooled rock hard, my children still loved then though. Anyway, cup measurements seem extremely complicated and depend on what you’re measuring so follow Ester’s advice, she is right. I’ve been asked to make more and will reduce the oats to 150g, fingers crossed! Be sure to give them a go as they are good even when done wrong :-)
