This is something we started when Nicholas had just turned 3 and Zoe 7, so a little under a year ago. Incredibly, it provides more incentive than the promise of a new special toy or sugary treat (which I never try to use as a reward). They have really come to value their special family 'outings' and it's amazing what they will do when it is something for the 'benefit' of the family that is at stake! It is as if they don't want to let the team down! I truly recommend it for so many reasons.... Hi Christine! I would love to hear how it goes! My son Nicholas who is 3 is car obsessed and knows every car (and most models) on the road.......well, whenever he gets a chance to choose the 'outing' he wants to go to a car dealership to look at the cars and get some free car manuals (which he then wants read as his bedtime story!). Anyway, for that reason we now provide a list of outings (and only sometimes include a trip to the car dealership) !!! Great! I would love to hear how it goes!

I recently started using a star chart with my kids, and was rewarding them with little gifts. The star chart was working, but I think it was perhaps the novelty of it, as it seems to be less effective now. Maybe I'll switch things up and follow your approach!
