Keep up with the cross-stitch
After the nanny incident we decided to enroll our daughter at the same nursery school our older son attended for two years. It’s a small, lovely place and we trust them completely. I e-mailed the director that very same Friday, spoke to him on the Saturday and on Tuesday our daughter would start. Fantastic!
She just needed the usual stuff — the same equipment all Italian children need when they go to school from 6 months until 5 years: between 2 and 5 bibs a week, 2 towels, and 2 drawstring sacks (one for a complete change of clothes and one to bring back and forth with the dirty stuff). No problem, but these things all need to be named.
I do not know what happens in the rest of the world but in Italy all the school linens come with a cross stitching band where mums are supposed to diligently stitch their child’s name. With the exception of few very inventive mothers (who find a way around it), everyone complies and weeks before school starts they get their patterns and needles out.
I didn’t have that much time, so that’s how I spent every evening last week: 2 towels, 2 sacks and 2 bibs… only 3 more bibs to go!

Oh man, that would make you want to choose a really short name for your kid!
I am so sorry to hear about the nanny incident – how perfectly horrifying!! You think you can trust someone, and then something like that happens….but I’m so glad to hear you found a nice, safe place for your daughter with people you trust to look after her!
