Miniseri
In keeping with all kids going back to school after a long (in our case not so hot) summer, I have found a schoolbag (over here known as a cartable) for my daughter that I love! It has a whiff of times gone by, when school bags were a rectangular thing, made out of leather. We never had them growing up; the ’80s were not so great for cool looking school bags, but apparently the ’00s are.
The Miniseri bag has a base design, but I love what has been done with it. You can find them made out of fabric or leather and with lots of different designs on them. There is even a smaller version for the little ones, which is really lovely.
There is a list of all the retailers worldwide on the Miniseri site, and if not available in your country there is also a list of web shops that deliver internationally.

Thanks so much Emilie for finding these for us. I ADORE them! I remember lugging all my books around in a canvas yellow backpack from the army and navy surplus store; the idea was to unbuckle the straps and tie them together so you could wear it over your shoulder – kind of like this. And then graffiti it with a black pen. And stick cool punk badges on it.
Then all my text books got too heavy and I had to wear a big ugly backpack. I’m going to have to get one of these for my laptop and save it for little Sophie when she is old enough to go to school.

I had a school bag like this when I started school in the seventies….I’m so old!
No! That is so cool. My 80’s one was this hideous fluorescent yellow number made out of plastic… no good!
