You know, it's funny, mine is a little, ahem, under the weather. It is typically easy to clean. Just give it a quick rinse when you are through using it. It gets used a lot at our house each morning so the milk does get a little stuck on the surface and require a little scrubbing. I think I got mine too wet and it's not working as well. Am actually heading to the Nespresso store today to discuss and of course, stock up on more coffee for houseguests arriving soon!

I think the cups are recyclable, if you take the effort to collect them and send them to nespresso............

Agreed! They don't make a perfect espresso, but they make a very good, consistent espresso with almost no effort. We bought our first Nespresso machine in 2001. I think we must have packed it away and put it in storage when we moved to the Netherlands, because I can't imagine we sold it or gave it away. We bought a new one here last year and I can't believe we went six months without!

I do like my Aeroccino, too. It doesn't foam milk as nicely as a good steaming arm, so I tend to make more lattes than capps now. But it's easy to use. And man oh man - George could be my barista ANY TIME!

They do make great coffee, but those plastic cartridges are such a waste. I wish they would come up with a way of making them refillable...

It's so funny because I always thought the whole idea sounded sort of corny. And I always really appreciate the 'art' of making the perfect cappuccino the old-fashioned way. (I prefer my Bialeti stove-top espresso maker).
BUT, when we were in the states over Christmas we stayed in an apartment that had one of these machines... And I have to say that it WAS really, really easy and so QUICK! Perfect if you have kids.
But I think I still prefer the old-fashioned way... if you can squeeze in the time!

My aunt and uncle in Switzerland love theirs! Just curious... are those cartridges recyclable? I don't like the idea of generating waste.

Michela,
I couldn't agree with you more. As I sit checking my morning email, an empty espresso cup sits to the left of my laptop and your Nespresso ponderings send me back downstairs for another round. I'm a Volluto & Livanto fan myself, while my husband prefers the creamy cap of the Arpeggio or Capriccio. I've found that House Guests who are Nespresso Virgins often take to Roma, while that flavor has never "done it" for me even though it's pegged as the "perfect coffee for a short espresso". Simply put, Nespresso is good enough to drink, even if George Clooney were not their spokesperson. The fact, that his face graces the cover of the Nespresso magazine which lounges on my glass coffee table, is simply the icing on the cake - or rather, the cream on the cappuccino, as the case may be.
Cheers!

Ahhhh...yes, Nespresso. Has changed my life. I wish I had my sooner because as you mention, once I had baby #2, I couldn't get out as much and needed my coffee more. I'm just back from holiday where the coffee wasn't my favorite so I'm thrilled to be reunited with my Nespresso. Another tip is the aeroccino machine which is part of the nespresso collection - it froths and heats milk beautifully so we can make babyccino's at home! Brilliant. Can't say enough great things about it. Oh, and we're in the UK and have the Magimix brand which definetly gets the espresso HOT. And my favorite roast is Ristretto!
