Sleeping bags and the duvet generation.
I definitely belong to the duvet-generation; I believe that nothing beats the feeling of being snugly wrapped in a light down-filled duvet! But more importantly, I hate making the bed in the traditional way (or more precisely I am not able to properly make such beds). Layers of sheets and blankets are a burden in many ways!
So there was not a chance I was going to make a traditional bed for my kids!
But, (in England) they say that duvets should not be used for kids under one…
So, the solution for me has been baby sleeping bags! They are cute and the bed is always tidy…there’s nothing to pull or tuck under. I know they were invented so that babies do not get uncovered during the night but I really appreciate their practicality in more ways than one…
I think babies look very cozy in them, and they are so handy when breastfeeding at night!
I personally have always used Grobags, the leading UK brand. I like the fact that they indicate clearly their tog so that it’s easy to know what the baby should wear at any temperature. They come in 2.5 tog (winter), 1.0 tog (all year around depending on warmth of flat) and 0.5 tog (high summer). They come in all sizes, and in loads of designs, and they also have an organic cotton version. I know some of my friends did not like them because of the polyester filling of the winter models, but that has not been an issue for me.
My son loved them so much, we actually had to “train” him to use a regular duvet… he didn’t want to give up his sleeping bag!

I like the tiny Petit Bateau sleeping bags for the first months, and here in the Netherlands you can get good, plain white sleeping bags at HEMA.
I swear by these as well. In the US, Halo makes nice cotton and fleece ones, but I am partial to the Lullabags by Cloud B as they zip along the outside edge and snap at the shoulders.
My absolute favorite ones are the Petit Bateau sleeping bags. They’re so cute and cozy, and like Shawn said- they also zip up the side and snap at the shoulders!
I also love the Petit Bateau ones. Especially as they have buttons on the bag to make the bag shorter when the baby is small.
