Hello,
I am new here (and newly pregnant!!!). I can see that the posts are quite old, so I am not sure if any of you still read the messages. I am french and live in the UK (Milton Keynes). This will be my first baby, and I really would like to try Haptonomy. Not much seem to have changed since 2007-2008 as I haven't been able to find a course in the UK. Therefore, I am considering travelling to France regularly for this. Can anyone share their experience (I can see, for instance, that Fabienne has done that)? Also, in terms of costs, do you have any idea how much it costs?
Many thanks for your replies!

We had our first baby in September and did haptonomy during the pregnancy. It was my partner who introduced the idea and I was open to it if not a little sceptical. I can totally confirm that it was a fabulous process and something I would strongly recommend. While it is impossible to say that our babies calmness is thanks to haptonomy we enjoyed a smooth and communicative pregnancy and an amazing arrival and first few months of our sons life. It really did feel like we all already knew each other when he arrived and our son has been very easy going. I am trying to find classes for a friend in London but to no avail. For any qualified haptonomy midwives out there.... go to London!!

I am French and living in London. Some friends mentionned haptonomy and I looked for an 'haptonome' here but there are none. This has been confirmed to me by the National Association of Haptonomes (CIRDH) based in France. If you contact them they will send you the list of all their practitionners in the world. I am expecting my first child and am going to Paris with husby every month for an haptonomy session. There are practionners who work on Saturdays so at least we don't have to take a day off. It is a bit complicated to organise from London but definitely worth it.

I am actually getting more and more into it. A few nights ago I could not sleep as the baby was lying directly on my bladder. My husband managed to reposition the baby through Haptonomy. I had the best night sleep in a long time.
I also don't know if this is normal but this baby reacts very differently to touch than my first one. It moves over towards my hand every time I put it on my tummy. I think at least part of it comes from Haptonomy.

As a Canadian in Paris who is also pregnant for the first time, I am curious about what you now think of this haptonomie business. I am also sceptical, but if it can help move the baby during labour...

Cheers, Natasha

The first months of my first pregnancy I was living in Brussels and heard the term Haptonomy, but didn't investigate further because I was moving to London anyway. (I actually thought it was some sort of massage therapy). Later I heard of a friend who gave birth in Brussels that for her and her partner the Haptonomy had been helpful.
I just checked the link above and for me (sceptical person as well) it is difficult to understand what they are trying to say, but what I did find out is that the inventer of the therapy is Dutch!
